PETER VIS With sadness in our hearts but tempered with our faith in Jesus Christ, we announce the passing of Peter Vis. The Lord Giveth and He Taketh Away. Peter's life was epitomized by this biblical passage in many ways. Peter passed away peacefully on September 8, 2015 in British Columbia where he spent the last five years of his retirement. Peter was born in 1934 in Ter Aar, the Netherlands and immigrated with his entire family in 1950 to Manitoba. Peter started farming with his father near Winnipeg but decided to pursue a career in animal nutrition. With a degree in hand from the University of Manitoba, he started his own feed company, Paramount Feeds in 1971. Peter spent the next 38 years in the animal nutrition business with the majority of his clientele the Hutterian Brethren of Manitoba. Peter forged many long lasting friendships with the Hutterites and they were an important part of his life. Peter married Marlene Wehrle in 1964. Marlene's family were recent German settlers and Peter forged strong ties with the Little Britain Community near Lockport, Manitoba. Except for the last five years in his retirement Peter and Marlene spent their entire lives in Manitoba and made many friends there. Peter and Marlene enjoyed travel, theatre, and the symphony. Peter was an avid reader and enjoyed a lively debate, likely honing his skills in his younger years with his seven siblings: Hank, Harry, John, Bill, Rita, Gertrude and Margaret. He survived by his wife Marlene; children William (Karilyn), Louise and Moira (Michael); and his grandchildren, William Jr (Marcia), Alicia, Hendrik, Isaac, Jacob, Simone, Naomi and Evangeline. Peter will be greatly missed by his family and we carry many fond memories of our time together living in Winnipeg. Peter's memorial mass will be held in St. Margaret's Roman Catholic Church, 105 Little Britain Rd., Lockport, Manitoba at 2:00 p.m., September 18 with interment in the church cemetery to follow.

Rest In Peace Uncle Peter who was also my godfather and my thoughts and prayers go to Aunt Marlene, my cousins and their families, and his siblings. - Posted by: Jackie (Vis) Siver (Niece) on: Sep 16, 2015

With the animal nutrition business consolidating throughout Western Canada, Peter and I spent countless "planning" meetings in his home on the Cresent. The eventual sale of his "Canoe" to the MLF "Fleet" was just the beginning of Mr. Vis' rebirth into his final feed chapter. An insatiable entrepreneurial spirit, I will always remember our 30 years with a smile. - Posted by: Craig Mackie (Industry Partner) on: Sep 12, 2015
