MARION EDITH SMITH (nee KILMER) On Friday, September 4, 2015, Marion went home to be with her Lord, at Oakview Place Personal Care Home, at the age of 81 years. Left to forever cherish Marion's memory are her children, Patti (Ken), Robert (Joan) and Sharron (Darrell); six grandchildren, Peter (Annadel), Joel (Alexis), Breanne, Brittany, Jeremy and Alana; sister-in-law Christine Shaw; as well as numerous nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her husband Neil; two brothers, Stuart and Mac, and her parents. On August 29, 1934, Marion was born in Shedden, Ontario. She grew up there and upon completion of high school, followed her parents to Manitoba. Marion, as a young girl, set her heart on becoming a nurse and took her training in Hamiota, Manitoba. After graduation, Marion assumed a position in Shoal Lake, Manitoba and nursed her future husband Neil after he had been in a car accident. On October 8, 1955 Dad and Mom were married. Mom would testify the prayers and testimony of her mother-in-law drew her to accepting Jesus as her Lord and Saviour. Marion then passed along this child-like faith to her children and those who crossed her path. For those who wish, viewing will be held on Friday, September 18, 2015 between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Memories in Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 2157 Portage Avenue at Sharp Boulevard. Marion's Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. in Westwood Community Church, 401 Westwood Drive, Winnipeg, MB, with Pastor Ed Hughes, presider. Heartfelt thanks to John and Laurel Fraser for their love and many visits with Mom. The family extends their gratitude to the staff on Three North at Oakview Place for the love and care for Mom.
