JOHN SHIELDS JEFFERS John Shields Jeffers passed away suddenly at his home, on September 9, 2015, in St. Andrews, MB. Born February 20, 1940 in Thunder Bay, ON. John was predeceased by his father John Thomas and his mother Annie; his wife Doreen as well as his former wife Adeline. John is survived by his sister Maureen Mills of Thunder Bay, ON; brother Tom Jeffers (Sue) of Scarborough, ON; children Tony Jeffers, Shelley Jeffers (Gord Meger), Trish Buhr (Michael), Deanna Henschel (Cal), Tamara Jeffers (Del), as well as grandchildren Jillian, Edison (Brittany), Joshua, Madison, Autumn, and Ian. John was a very friendly, easy-going man. You could always expect a handshake, a smile, and a joke at every encounter. He was a loving husband, father, and provider for two families during his life. He had a lengthy career with CN Rail where he supervised others and specialized in refrigeration. He also had many unique experiences working up on the DEW line as an electrician and was the go-to fix it guy for everyone he knew. John's passions had been projects and card playing up at his cottage, performing music (vocals and guitar), hunting, and fishing. He was also known for his hilarious pranks on daughters Deanna and Tamara. In the last few years he loved going to the Buhr cabin up at Grindstone, bombing around in his golf cart, and visiting in the Eastman fish shed. Although John lost his ability to speak and the strength of one half of his body, which prevented him from tinkering with and fixing things, he still remained active, cutting grass with the riding lawn mower. Trish and Michael were able to enjoy Dad as a neighbor and appreciated this help. Michael and Dad became the best of friends. Dad - we hope you are in a better place. We'll miss our time with you and you will forever be remembered with love and respect. Donations can be made in memory of John to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
