LANCE CHRISTOPHER DADEY November 4, 1964 - September 3, 2015 Lance was born in Winnipeg but after university travelled widely, living with his spouse and creative partner Rebekah Roy in Paris, Montreal, Toronto and Oxford, before settling in London, England. Although he was originally a drama student, Lance's talents ranged as widely as his travelling. He directed and wrote plays, composed and created soundtracks, and was a software designer and coder. After working as a programmer in both Canada and England, Lance then took up photography, and in a brief time became known, under the name Christopher Dadey, as one of the top catwalk and fashion photographers in London, England. His work was published in a wide variety of magazines and newspapers, including GQ, Vogue, Elle and The Guardian. Lance always foregrounded his work rather than himself; personally, he was quiet and private, and his keen intelligence was accompanied by a kind, gentle and generous nature that endeared him to friends and made clients eager to work with him. Lance is predeceased by his mother Anne and missed by his wife Rebekah, his father Alex and stepmother Jeannette, his brother Bruce, sister-in-law Kym-Su and niece Zosha, his father-in-law Ranjan, mother-in-law Margaret and brother-in-law Julian, and a host of relatives and friends, including his stepsiblings, Michelle, Jeannine, Roger, Gerald and Robert. Lance passed away suddenly, with many projects and dreams yet to pursue. We will miss him painfully but cherish the memories and work he left with us. A celebration of his life will take place at a later date.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • We were classmates and friends at school and thought he was a great guy and one of the most intelligent and creative friends I had.RIP mon ami Remo - Posted by: Remo Marinelli (Uof W classmate) on: May 12, 2017

  • Because Lance lived all over the world, I rarely saw him as an adult. However, as kids, I remember Christmases and family get togethers with Lance keeping us entertained. We were the same age and I always looked forward to spending time with him when we were in the city. He took us on a tour of the planetarium and enjoyed his guided "sight seeing" of half of Winnipeg keeping us in stitches all the while. We always had a laugh. I am sorry that such an accomplished life was cut short. - Posted by: Lisa Dadey (Cousin) on: Sep 27, 2015
