ROLAND (ROLLIE) GOSSELIN July 2, 1931 - September 3, 2015 It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the loss of a wonderful husband, brother, uncle and friend, who passed away September 3, 2015 at Concordia Hospital. Left to mourn is his beloved wife Vickie, sisters Audrey Mackenzie, Lucy Egan, Fernande Caley, and Anita (Jim) Fyfe, sister-in-law Marion Gosselin, and brother-in-law Bill Salamon, along with numerous nieces and nephews. During his working life, Rollie worked at Imperial Oil for almost 25 years. He then owned and operated Northgate Bowl with his partners Stew Buckler and Bill Burke. An accomplished 10 pin bowler, he was in his element at the bowling alley. He met and married Vickie in 1975 after a long courtship and they shared nearly 40 very happy years together. They built their dream cottage at Spruce Sands and spent 31 years enjoying many parties with family and friends and also the friendship of great neighbours they made at the beach. Together they travelled, often combining their love of travel and golf. Rollie was lucky in love and at cards, winning more than he ever lost and that French-Ukrainian combination made for lively times and great food. A special thank you to Dr. R. Johnson for the great care he gave Rollie and also to the care from the nurses and staff of 3N Concordia Hospital. There will be a celebration of his life at a future date.

Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • Great memories of golfing with Rollie and Vicki. I still try to use Rollie's putting tips and if I did so all of the time, I'd be a better putter!! What a great, kind, caring man. Always positive. Always happy. Loved life and the people in his life. I'll miss you, Big Guy. - Posted by: Steve Pataki (Friend) on: Oct 05, 2015

  • Thinking of you at this difficult time. Sincerely, Wally and Lynne - Posted by: Wally and Lynne Korkosh (Friends) on: Sep 16, 2015

  • Uncle Rollie always called me "kid". This I will always remember. He was a great uncle and a wonderful man. Will always remember our times at the lake in his trailer before he even had that beautiful cottage. Lots of fun memories there. I used to be so excited to see him when they came over to our house! Cards, gambling, golf and bowling were his favorites. He will be missed. - Posted by: collette gervais (he is my uncle) on: Sep 14, 2015

  • Uncle Rollie: I remember him as such a kind, friendly, happy man. We loved his Canada party at the lake. Both Vicki and Rollie were inspirations of what a great partnership can be. Sharing, loving, enjoying every moment of life. No matter how far and few between our visits were, whenever we would see Uncle Rollie with Vicki and his big, warm, friendly smile of his... made all the time and distance disappear. I know Gary has many more deeper and fond memories of Rollie and will always cherish them. Playing cards with his Mom and Dad I'm sure was one of them. He loves the fact that most people would say..."Your another Uncle Rollie!" A perfect role model for sure !! He will be missed. Love and Hugs to Vicki.. Chris and Gary Henry. - Posted by: Gary and Chris Henry (niece in-law and nephew) on: Sep 13, 2015

  • I have many fond memories of my Uncle Rollie. Great times at twin beaches are times I always will remember. All us kids looked forward to Uncle Rollie and Aunty Vicki coming to the lake as they were so much fun. No family occasion was complete until Uncle Rollie arrived. Rollie's smile and laugh are what I will always remember. He was so kind and always made me laugh. He will be always remembered and always missed. - Posted by: Colleen Fyfe (Niece) on: Sep 12, 2015

  • My uncle Rollie was a man that seemed to be living his dream life with my auntie Vicky beside him the whole way. Not many of us get to experience that in life, with all the hard work came a lot of enjoyment in life for the both of you. I'm so sorry for the loss of uncle Rollie to those who knew and loved him dearly. He was my uncle, and I remember holidays with a boisterous laugh from uncle Rollie and always a huge smile. He was a great brother, uncle & friend to many people and will be missed sorely. I had a lot of admiration growing up for all of uncle Rollie's accomplishments, but I think his greatest accomplishments were ones I didn't see and that was expressed by all his friends and family not leaving him alone in his final days. I believe that's the mark of an unselfish man. My heart goes out to you auntie Vicky. - Posted by: Michael Fyfe (Nephew) on: Sep 12, 2015

  • I have such fond memories of my Uncle Rollie and Aunt Vickie. I remember as a kid being excited when they came to visit as I knew there would be lots of laughs. Visits to the lake were so much fun too! My Uncle Rollie set a great example by living his life to the fullest and making family and friends his priority in life. Uncle Rollie, you will be greatly missed but will live forever in my heart and in all the great memories I have - Posted by: Jackie Fyfe (Niece) on: Sep 12, 2015
