NANCY ANN WONNICK (nee SHEPPARD) July 16, 1950 - September 12, 2015 Peacefully, with her family at her side, Nancy passed away at Riverview Health Centre to be with her Lord. She was predeceased by her parents Corb and Dorothy Sheppard. Nancy leaves to mourn her beloved husband Dennis, of 37 years, she also leaves behind her sisters Sandra (Herb) and Barbara (Ken); brother John (Linda); sister-in-law Janet (Ron), and brother-in-law Ray (Ida), as well as many nieces and nephews. As a young girl Nancy and her family spent countless summers at Granite Lake and from this came her love of the outdoors, be it camping, skiing, golfing or playing in the pool with her nieces, Nancy loved to be outside. Nancy was very lucky to have been able to retire at an early age and spent many years travelling with Dennis. Being young snowbirds Nancy and Dennis spent their winter down south, after several southern destinations they settled in Arizona for a number of years. Summers were spent at their favourite campground, Millers, where they had a permanent site. Nancy and Dennis made many life long friends through their travel. Nancy struggled with health issues over the past few years, the most serious being sarcoidosis of the lungs, a disease that she ultimately succumbed to. Nancy's true spirit came through during these years, she never let the disease take over, even a special visit from her great-niece Hannah brought a smile to her face in her last days at Riverview. A special thanks to the Palliative Care team that allowed Nancy to stay home during her final months and the nurses and doctors at Riverview Health Centre, who looked after her in her final weeks. Funeral service will be held at Joy Lutheran Church, 50 Barnes Street, Winnipeg, on Friday, September 18, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Joy Lutheran Church for St. Aidan's Christian School, 50 Barnes St., Winnipeg, MB R3T 4Z7.

  • Deepest sympathy to Dennis. Nancy was a terrific person. - Posted by: Lynn Lylyk (friend) on: Sep 19, 2015

  • It was wonderful growing up next door to Mr. And Mrs."W". Even after growing up and having a family of my own, I was still lucky to see them frequently when visiting my parents. My son, now 6, built a special relationship and was often playing in their yard. A sad time for Ascot Bay. Forever remembered with love. Lisa, Scott, and Kyle - Posted by: Lisa Bischoff (Former neighbour) on: Sep 17, 2015

  • At this sad time remembering visits in the front yard on Ascot Bay and our trip through the Mission Trail in San Antonio. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and all who loved Nancy. Margaret and Bo, Sioux Narrows On. - Posted by: Margaret and Bo Gulczewski (Friends) on: Sep 17, 2015

  • So sad to lose such a good friend. Nancy loved playing and sharing Miller's pranks. She was a very happy person and a lot of fun to be with. We have a fond memory of sharing a Momma Mia outing with the Wonnicks. From Nancy I retain her comment that "illness is not a choice, but rather a condition you need to deal with as best you can". Miss you friend - Posted by: Marilyne & Marcel Poirier (Millers Friends ) on: Sep 16, 2015
