MAISIE E. PARK March 21, 1918 - September 14, 2015 On Monday, September 14, 2015 at St. Boniface Hospital, Maisie Evelyn Park, widow of the late Clifford Park, peacefully passed away at age 97. Mother is survived by her three children; Marnie (Ron) Skaftfeld, Donald (Val), and Gordon (Pam); her six grandchildren, Michael Skaftfeld, Susan (Ryan) Skrabek, Dan (Lynda) Park, Brian (Leah) Park, Andrea (Keith) Delisle and Jocelyn Park; her eight very special great-grandchildren, Paul and Abby Skaftfeld, Aidan and Kyra Skrabek, Casey, Danielle and Bryce Park, and Kenny Park; as well as sister-in-law Emily Park, nieces, nephews and friends While raising her family, Mother was active in Sparling United Church, being very involved with the Sunday School, C.G.I.T. and the U.C.W. When Dad suffered his stroke in 1985, Mother was steadfastly by his side as he came to terms with his limitations. They moved into South Osborne Place CO-OP when it opened in 1987, which turned out to be a very good decision for them both. Mother continued to reside there after Dad's death in 1992, in her own apartment, until her recent hospital stay. She enjoyed her years at "360", serving on many committees, the Board of Directors, the weekly Crib, Bridge and Dart games and the Friday afternoon "Chats". She was very proud to tell you that she was one of the last remaining "Originals of 360". The family is so very thankful for the kindness shown by her friends at "360" in the last three years, especially Linda Butler. Maisie is also the last of the "Coulter Clan", the six children of James and Lilly Jane Coulter. Her brothers and sisters, Ina (Ray) Roberts of British Columbia, Art (Doris), Jack (Mary), Dorothy (Bill) Danell, and Kay (George) Smith of Ontario, have all predeceased her. The end of an era. Mother was the strength for her family, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a seamstress extraordinaire, designing and making all her own clothes and sewing those "special occasion" outfits for her children, grandkids, and great-nieces. She referred to sewing as her way of relaxing. She became computer literate after Dad's passing and enjoyed keeping in touch with extended family via email. Quite a lady!! We all miss her dearly. A Celebration of Mother's Life will be held at 11:30 a.m., on Friday, September 25, 2015 at Churchill Park United Church, 525 Beresford Ave., Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to: Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, 200 - 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6; Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, Manitoba Division, 1465 Buffalo Place, Ste. 100, Winnipeg, MB R3T 1L8, or CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
