ELSIE BUDEY (ZAPOROZAN) Born July 21, 1935 The family celebrates the passing of Elsie Budey on September 20, 2015 at the DeSalaberry and District Health Centre at the age of 80, on the date of what would have been the 63rd wedding anniversary to the love of her life Steve Budey. Elsie was predeceased by her husband Steve, her parents William and Theresa Zaporozan, and her in-laws John and Anna Budey, and Jack and Jennie Skrinski. Left to cherish her memory are her six children: Gloria (Jerry), Donald (Linda), Theresa (Wally), Stephanie, Debra (Paul), Robert (Monica) as well as 11 grandchildren and six great- grandchildren, one brother Lawrence (Audrey) and their families. Mom and Dad also fostered numerous children. Mom was born in Barkfield, MB on July 21, 1935. She married Steve, the love of her life in 1952, and they farmed in Rosa where she spent the rest of her life. Life was simple and through the years she became an important figure in the Rosa community. At a young age she became the 1st President of the UCWL of Rosa. She then chose to further increase her knowledge of the Ukrainian language and culture. From then until now people came to her to ask for help in translations. She worked at the sewing factory in St. Malo for many years. The boys could come to her to repair a needed patch or fix a zipper on stuff that really could have been thrown away and she would say "It can still be fixed". She worked in home care for numerous years and was an excellent caregiver. She was so good with the terminally ill that she was called upon for that particular role. Over the course of her life she did many things. She loved gardening and did it with a passion. She was outstanding in her cooking, sewing, and she enjoyed cross stitching. She loved crossword, jigsaw puzzles, and painting. She always enjoyed going to the hall to help when there was an event and was a very dedicated member. You would not even think of calling her on a Tuesday evening because that was Bingo night or during an episode of the Young and the Restless. All of the talents Mom had she taught to her children and helped make them who they are today. She instilled in her children the love of family and spiritual faith, which was evident the day before her passing as she prayed with her six children by her side. Mom, enjoy your anniversary dance with Dad. Celebration of Life to be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street on Friday, September 25, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Family would like to express their most heartfelt appreciation to the staff at DeSalaberry and District Health Centre that gave such wonderful and tender care to our mom. • Bічная память-Everlasting memory - to a wonderful woman who was a real anchor of the Ukrainian Catholic community in Rosa and the district. I will always have fond memories of blessing her home on the Feast of Jordan and many visits with her and her family. I will pray for her here in California. In blessed repose, grant eternal rest unto her, O Lord. Fr. Greg Zubacz - Posted by: Fr. Greg Zubacz (Pastor) on: Sep 23, 2015
