LENORE SOVA After a lengthy illness Lenore passed away at the age of 65, September 25, 2015 at the Health Sciences Centre. Lenore was predeceased by her parents Ethel and Arnold Sova, and brother-in-law August Thorvaldson. Left to cherish her memory are her sister Carolyn Thorvaldson, brother Gary Sova and wife Joyce Wong; sister Debbie (Neil) Rostkowski, nieces and nephews Cheryl (Brian) Dempsey, Matthew and Thor; Shelly Maslechko, Steven and Sera; Robert (Amanda) Thorvaldson, Ayla, Kylee, and Olivia; Raquel and Riley Sova; as well as many cousins and friends. Lenore was born in Winnipeg on May 30, 1950 (a flood baby). She was a very happy child and enjoyed being with family and friends. She was proud of her Icelandic heritage. Family birthday parties and other holiday events were her favourite times but the annual family holiday at West Hawk Lake was the highlight every year. Lenore enjoyed playing cribbage, bingo and gambling at the casino. She was also interested in sports and in her younger years attended Winnipeg Blue Bomber, Goldeyes and Jets games with family. She bowled with Special Olympics at the Coronation Bowling Centre and enjoyed going to their socials. Lenore retired last year from Versatech Industries Inc. (Imaginability) where she had enjoyed working for 20 years. For the last 17 years Lenore lived in an apartment run by Simaril Inc. (part of their supported living program) where she received loving care from staff who were considered to be extended family by both Lenore and her family. Lenore fought a good fight over the last five months and she is now is at peace with her Mom and Dad. The family would like to thank the staff at Health Sciences Centre for the care and kindness shown to Lenore. Also, sincere thanks to Simaril Inc. and Nolan Aminot for their thoughtfulness and support throughout Lenore's illness. Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 30, at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery). A funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery). Longer obit to follow.   • I have many wonderful memories of spending time with the Sova family. Lenore was always such a sweet person and full of laughs and smiles. She enjoyed being with family at the many parties and events such as grey cup parties. She loved shopping for new clothes and always picked out the prettiest blouses for herself.   • So sorry that Lenore had to suffer for so long. I remember when her parents Ethel & Arnold brought her to stay with Murray and I in Hawaii. Lenore loved to swim in our pool and to go shopping at the mall. She had me help her pick out makeup and was very thrilled. Lenore was a sweetheart and smiled a lot.
