I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. McLean at a variety of events over the years. He was always interested in what you had to say, had a great sense of humour and was a true gentleman. I learned very early on of his deep devotion to his family, in particular his wife Joan, and this would explain their long life together of over 62 years. I also remember well that you could never have a lunch date with his son Doug on Fridays as that was a time reserved exclusively for his Dad. That spoke to the kind of bond Mr. McLean developed with his family and friends. He leaves a great legacy of being an ideal family man who undoubtedly will be sorely missed, but at the same time, fondly remembered. God Bless. - Posted by: Bill Head (Friend) on: Oct 02, 2015

Uncle Vern was a true gentle man who, through out my life time, always accepted me and loved me just because I existed. I cannot remember him ever raising his voice to me and always ended our conversations with "Love you too, Kiddo". I will very much miss this wonderful man for the rest of my life. - Posted by: Linda Cheshire (Niece) on: Sep 28, 2015
