Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySTANLEY HEMMING With great sadness, the family of Stanley Hemming announces his passing on Friday, September 25, 2015 at Seven Oaks Hospital in Winnipeg. Stan is survived by his daughter Sandra; sisters, Grace and Edith; and brother Frank. He was predeceased by his wife Ruth, mother Hulda, father John Carlsen, brother Clarence and sister Beatrice. Stan was born October 15, 1928, in Lundar, Manitoba. He moved with his family to Winnipeg in the early 1940s and soon found work with the City of Winnipeg, where he remained an employee for 35 years. Stan worked in the Streets and Traffic Division. For many years after retirement, he regaled his family with tales of working the roads and his knowledge of city streets. Retirement allowed Stan to focus on his many interests. He loved nature and especially enjoyed the garden at his North Kildonan home. Bird-watching was another favourite hobby - he had an impressive ability to identify all kinds of birds. Beekeeping, coin-collecting and puzzle-solving, particularly Sudoku, were among his other pastimes. Sharing Swedish tongue-twisters was another activity that brought delight to him and his family members. Stan was also a proud, longtime member of the Shriners. Stan's life will be celebrated during a funeral service to be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 1, at the Klassen Funeral Home, with interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery. Thank you to everyone on the 4th floor, Unit 1 and 3 at Seven Oaks Hospital. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to your favourite charity.
