GLEN LINDSAY EDIE Peacefully on September 27, 2015, at the age of 84 years, Glen Lindsay Edie, after a courageous battle with cancer passed away at Golden Links Lodge. Glen was predeceased by his parents Bruce and Florence, his siblings Norman (Lois), Arnold (Helen), and Verna (Allan), and grandson Bruce. He is lovingly remembered by his wife Eunice, of 64 years, his brother Ken (Susan), sister Lois (Lyle), his sons Grant (Sheila), Calvin (Gwen), and Brad (Sandi). He is also remembered by his grandchildren Barrett (Jessica), and their son Logan, Lindsay (Andrew), Keith (Nicole), Glenda, and Brendan (Breahn), numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Dad was born on August 27, 1931, and lived his entire life in the Dugald area. On October 24, 1953 he married the love of his life Eunice. Dad grew up on the family farm where he developed the work ethic that followed him through life. He continued farming with his family until the 1990s. In the 1970s Dad was able to follow his true passion in life; heavy construction, and founded Edie Construction Ltd. He very quickly passed this passion on to his three sons. When not busy with work he enjoyed playing and watching baseball in the summers and curling in the winters until he and Mom took up traveling. They travelled extensively around the world until they found their winter home in Mesa, Arizona. Here they made lifelong friends and Dad found a new hobby in shuffle board. Through all of his work, passions, and hobbies, family was always the most important thing in Dad's life. Whether that meant watching his sons play baseball, his grandchildren curl, or play hockey, or just spending time with his great-grandson, he always had time and love for his family. We would like to thank the staff at both Concordia Hospital and Golden Links Lodge for the compassionate care Dad, and the family, received over the last nine months. A celebration of Glen's life will be held on Friday, October 2, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at OakBank Baptist Church, 26033 Springfield Road, OakBank. Interment will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Glen's name to the Grace Edie Scholarship Fund, The Owen Hart Memorial Scholarship Fund, CancerCare Manitoba, or a charity of your choice. Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • We purchased land in Pebble Springs in 2002 and had the Edies' as great neighbors for 12 years. We both travelled to Arizona in the winter and shared several stories. We were out of town at the time of his passing. He will be remembered by many of his neighbors and at the lake. We all own Glen and his family for making this beautiful Pebble Springs Development and it will be one of his legacies. Pebble Springs will always be remembered and loved due to the Edie Family. We are sorry Eunice and family for your loss. Glen will be with us all in memory for all time. - Posted by: Judy Calvert-Pierce and Shaun Pierce (Good neighbors in at the beach in Belair, MB) on: Nov 01, 2015

  • We became good friends of Glen and Eunice through baseball, as we sat behind them when the new ballpark opened. Later we sat next to them for many years. There were always running jokes about players and trades. We also enjoyed meeting the rest of the family and watching the grandchildren grow up. We send our heartfelt condolences to you all. Spring and baseball season isn't quite the same without Glen in the stands. We miss him. - Posted by: Judy & Curt Smith (friends) on: Oct 02, 2015

  • Our sympathy to Eunice and family on Glen's passing. We only knew Glen for a short time but very quickly found he was a kind and caring man. We will miss him at the shuffleboard courts in Mesa. Sincerely Norm & Janet - Posted by: Norm & Janet Lofgren (friends) on: Sep 30, 2015

  • "Grampa" Edie as he was always lovingly referred to by my kids. You were the only Grampa my kids knew growing up. You treated them like your own grandchildren. You were a special person with a kind heart and a blessing to my kids. You will be sadly missed but never forgotten for all your kindness and generosity. May God Bless you and take care of you as you did to all those around you. Rest in peace "Grampa" Edie. - Posted by: Ron Dirr (Friend of the family) on: Sep 29, 2015
