MICHAEL CHAPMAN October 8, 1961 - September 25, 2015 On Friday, September 25, 2015, a man with a heart of gold, Michael (Mike) David Chapman, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 53 years. Left surviving Mike are nine siblings, Bev (Peter) Moss, Linda (Brian) Shopka, Judy Hossack, Rob Chapman (Barb Higgins), Wendy Thomson, Susan Ollinger (Richard Michaud), Debbie (Mitch) Eden, Kerry Hill (Dean Fontaine) and Tracey (Mike) McGill; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and his cats. He was predeceased by his parents, Stan and Joyce Chapman, and brother, John Chapman. Mike lived and worked his entire life in St. James. He had many talents - cooking, woodworking, repairing furniture, cars and stereos, and most recently writing poetry. He had an incredible love for music and spending time with good friends. He was a very hard worker and took pride in a job well done. Mike's spirit, laugh and quirky sense of humour will be sadly missed by all who knew him. A Celebration of Mike's Life will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the St. James Legion, 1755 Portage Avenue. Interment will take place at a later date. In recognition of Mike's love of animals, memorial donations may be made to D'Arcy's Arc, Winnipeg Humane Society or another pet charity of your choice.   • Mike and I were good friends through High School and many years after that. We always enjoyed going out to his parents cabin or having the odd party on weekends with friends.   • Very saddened to hear of Mike's passing. Mike worked for me at Eatons and was a very reliable and valuable employee. Whenever we needed a to find an old part or model # we always went turned to Mike. He always amazed me with his memory. Mike also had a heart of gold and cared for his friends and co workers.   • I was surprised and so sad to hear today of Mike's passing. Mike was a friend and co-worker of mine at Eaton's Warehouse for a number of years. He was a hard worker and a dedicated employee and I enjoyed many story telling sessions with him. The best thing I'll remember about Mike is he made me smile every day. Mike was that kind of guy.   • Sincere condolences to the family. I would see Mike when walking my dog and he would stop to say Hi and pet her. He was always happy and things he would talk about would make you laugh.   • Mike was my brother and my best friend. He was a caring, gentle man who made everyone happy. He loved to have a good time and be with friends and cherished them all like they were his only friend. I loved him so much and cared for him deeply. When he passed part of me left with him.   • As a teenager moving to St.James I quickly became friends with Kerry. Hanging out pretty much 24/7 Mike was a huge part of my life and treated me and everyone like family.   • I grew up with Michael on Collegiate Street. I remember going to the park with him to swing on the swings, and playing together many of our street games like "Kick the Can" and "Red Rover".
