Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM KENNETH AFFLECK December 20, 1918 - September 29, 2015 It is with saddened hearts we announce the passing of W. Ken Affleck on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at Riverview Health Centre, at the age of 96 years. Left to cherish Ken's memory are his loving wife, Jean of 45 years. He will be fondly remembered by his very close cousin Arnold (Marion) Henry and their family. Ken had a special place in his heart for his cousin Barb (Barbie Dear), her husband and (Ken's barber the last few years) Ian Brown and their family. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Anne Bowman; brother-in-law Ken Bowman; niece Jill Bowman and her daughter Emily; along with numerous other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Jennie (James) and Garnet Affleck. On March 21, 1970 Ken married the love of his life, Jean Bowman. They had a wonderful life together filled with love, family, friends and travel, their favourite travel destination being Barbados. Ken worked many years for Air Canada until his retirement. He was a member of the Shriners along with many Lodges and continued to support them to date. Ken was a kind, gentle man, with a great sense of humor. Besides Jean, he loved children and animals and he especially enjoyed his visits from Barb's dog, Tessa. Jean would like to thank both their families for their love, support, meals and respite hours in helping care for Ken at home the last few years. To our friend Joan for the wonderful treats you brought, along with the care and respite hours you put in, it is all greatly appreciated. To all of Ken and Jean's neighbours and friends, thank you for your visits to their home and all the baking. (Ken had a sweet tooth and he enjoyed it all). The family would like to thank Dr. Sharkey for his home visits as well as Ken's homecare team, especially Mark, for treating Ken with compassion and preserving his dignity. Thanks also to the wonderful staff at Riverview Palliative Care (3E) for your compassion and support. In compliance with Ken's wishes, no formal Funeral Service will be held. I have so many fond memories of Ken, especially when I was a little girl. Ken used to give me horsey rides on his leg. Ken bought me my first doll house, & my first pair of figure skates. We had wonderful Christmases, where the Henry family would go Christmas Eve & stay til Christmas Day. Ian & I will always remember the fun times when you & Jean & Jean's family would come for dinner at our house. Lots of great memories. We will miss you Ken. Love Barb & Ian xo - Posted by: Barb Brown (Cousin) on: Oct 06, 2015
