GERTRUDE (TRUDY) LAING (nee PILEK) The family of Trudy Laing is deeply saddened to announce her passing on Thursday, October 1, 2015, at the age of 84 years. Trudy will loving be remembered and sadly missed by the love of her life, best friend and husband of 60 years, Ernie; children, Keith, Tim (Karen), Mari-Lee (Peter) and Brian (Anne); grandchildren, Krystyn, Kaylee (Shaun), Megan, Mandie, Ryan, Michelle, Amy, Jana, Jennifer, Scott, Greg, Eric and Janelle; and great-grandson Bradley. Also left to mourn her are her brothers and sisters; many nieces and nephews; and well-loved friends. On June 19, 1931, Trudy was born and raised in Tyndal, Manitoba and later moved to Winnipeg where she met her husband Ernie Laing. During their happy marriage they raised their four children and lived in France, Nova Scotia and Winnipeg. For 14 years, Trudy was a valued public servant for the Fresh Water Fisheries department. Trudy enjoyed and was talented at knitting, cross stitching and sewing. She enjoyed travelling, square dancing and curling with Ernie. She will be lovingly remembered for the many family gatherings she hosted with Ernie where homemade pies, butter tarts and perogies were enjoyed by all. Mass of the Resurrection will be Celebrated this morning, Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Gianna Beretta Molla Roman Catholic Church, 15 Columbia Drive, Winnipeg, Manitoba, with Rev. Fr. Darrin Gurr, presiding. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3L 0K6.
