Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLIZZIE (KATHLEEN) MERKE (nee JOHNSTON) December 14, 1925 - October 5, 2015 Kathleen passed away peacefully on October 5, 2015 at East Gate Lodge Personal Care Home in Beausejour at the age of 89. She is survived by her daughters Judith Kowalchuk, Valerie (Ernie) Schreyer, Bernice (Gordon) McDonald, Adriane (David) Day; son Kenneth (Lisa) Merke and daughter-in-law Rose Rondeau-Merke. She also leaves to mourn her grandchildren Renee Foubert, Grahame (Shannon) Merke, Craig (Krista) Merke, Trenton (Irene) Schreyer, Ashley (Chris) McDonald, Jared McDonald, Laurie (Colin) Sigsworth, Kent (Kendra) Merke, Meghann-Bethann Day, Adam Day and Tobias Day, great-grandchildren Teagan, Aliya, Brody, Stanley, Kylee, Kacey and Brendon, sisters-in-law Mildred, May and Grace, as well as her special friend Wendell. She was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Richard, her infant daughter Peggy, son Jerry, son-in-law Bill, brothers David, Wilfred, Alex, Norman and Eugene, brother-in-law Alex Dollard, sisters Madelaine and Beatrice, sister in-law Alma and parents Alphonse and Sarah Johnston. A special thanks to the staff at East Gate Lodge for all the care and compassion you gave to mom over the years. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Beausejour, with interment to follow in Zion Lutheran Cemetery. My Dear Auntie many days I have been thinking of you and wishing only the best for you! I am so sorry I could not come and see you this past summer however I had to stay home this year again!! I will always remember you; when I think of the farm my fondest memories are of you! My Father loved you so much and he would truly be saddened by the loss of you! Please say Hi to Dad for me and everyone else I am truly sorry I didnt get to see you I will forever treasure you in my Heart!
