JOHN IRELAND In the early morning hours of a beautiful fall day our loving husband, father and Papa passed away. He fought a courageous battle to stay with us but lived life "pretty much how I wanted to". John was a retired police officer and an avid outdoorsman, but his family was his proudest accomplishment. He will be forever remembered by his loving and dedicated wife of 59 years, Alice, his five children, Brenda Rairie (Terry), Bradley Ireland (Arlene), Wade Ireland (Monique), Wanda Starsiak (Steven), and Toni Raugust (Rod), as well as his 12 grandchildren, Shawn Rairie (Debbie), Terra-Lynn Marchak (Dwayne), Chelsea Drane (Kevin), Erin Ireland (Izzy), Courtney Starsiak (Randy), Devon Massecar (Jason), Carlyn Ireland (Dan), Evan Raugust (Carlynn), Eric Raugust (Heather), Brady Raugust, Ben and Zach Ireland. He also leaves behind special friend Brian Maloney and his family. Papa was looking forward to becoming a Great Papa in early 2016 to baby Jack Massecar and baby Marchak. Cremation has taken place and a private family gathering will follow. Our sincere thanks to Palliative Care at Riverview Health Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society, CancerCare or Palliative Care. PAPA'S GONE FISHING!

To Alice and family. I just found out today Nov 1 of your loss. I am in shock at the news that John had passed away. I first met John when I started working with him iin East St. Paul in 1986. I learned so much from him. He was a man that I tried to model myself after. I have so many memories of Police calls that we went on together and he demonstrated professionalism, kindness and compassion to everyone he came into contact with both on and off duty.He was also the toughest man I have ever known and he gained the respect of the "good guys and the bad guys" alike. There is not a day that he didn't speak about Alice, his children and grandchildren. Family was absolutely the most important thing to him. John was the person who taught me how to fish and I remember well the fishing trips we went on. John and I had many conversations pver a cup of coffee . I enjoyed so much the stories of the old days. I was always amazed at his taxidermist skills. I still have some of his taxidermy work hanging up in my cottage and a carved wooden bird that John had given me as a gift. I will always cherish that as a gift of friendship. I am so proud to have known John and I am a better person because of him. I have so many more memories of John but I am having a hard time right now with the news. Needless to say. I miss John tremendously and the world lost a "great person" To Alice and family, please accept my sincerest condolences. Our deepest sympathies aunty Alice, and family. Our thoughts, prayers and love are sent your way, at this very sad time! Uncle Johnny was one of my favourite uncles! Although our families didn't see each other often over the years, I will always remember a kind, gentle giant who was funny and great to his kids and his nieces and nephews! You will be missed by many, which is evident from the kind and loving words that have been used to pay tribute to you! It's very sad that you had to leave your loving family, but I'm sure they are feeling blessed that you are in no pain.... Go fish ❤️ - Posted by: Cheryl and Brent Dubray and family (Uncle Johnny and great uncle Johnny ) on: Oct 10, 2015
