JACQUELINE JESSIE FERN (nee ROBINSON) Peacefully on October 6, 2015 after a short but courageous battle with lung cancer Jackie passed away at the Victoria Hospital, Winnipeg at the age of 68. She was surrounded by her family. Left to cherish her memory is her husband Roy, of 46 years; children Gillian (Deryk), Gareth (Tara) and Geoffrey (Kristy); brothers Jim (Jill), Jason (Jan) and John (Val); sister-in-law Jennifer; grandchildren, Coty, Christopher, Colten, Ryan, Matthew, Macy, Jessika and Andrew; uncle Jim (Joan); nieces and nephews Sara (Troy), Kimberley (Kris), Roxanne (Spencer), David, Megan, Joey, Jayne (Steven) and family, Julie (Martin) and family, Sara (Ray) and family; cousins Tom (Sue) and family, Derek (Denise) and family, and Evelyn, along with many friends. Jackie was born September 1, 1947 and from that day on everything she did or attempted was just shy of perfect and she prided herself on that. She loved her family, friends, her two G.S.D.'S, Jenna and Bobby and had a soft spot for most animals. Jackie was a busy sort with her gardening, baking, home upgrades and her involvement with the Fort Garry Kennel Club. She loved to laugh and had a wonderful sense of humour, which most of her friends and family can attest to, especially her husband. Many thanks go out to the doctors and nursing staff 4th floor North, Victoria Hospital for their caring and compassion. A celebration of Jackie's life will be held at St. Mary Magdalene Church, 3 St. Vital Road on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare or an animal rescue of choice. 204-782-3541

Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • I am saddened to learn about Jackie's passing. Jackie and I worked together for a number of years at Manitoba Hydro before I left for a job in United States. Other than work, I enjoyed our conversation on various topics and jokes. I now live in California and learned about the news late. My deepest sympathy to her husband, Roy and his family. • Jackie and I worked in the same department at Manitoba Hydro. I am shocked to learn of the passing of this wonderful person. Jackie was a good worker with an engaging personality and a special sense of humor. We had a good laugh at her retirement party for some stories she told about me. My heart goes out to Jackie's family. - Posted by: Don Miller (Co-worker) on: Oct 30, 2015

  • Worked a number of years with Jackie . I was very happy to join the supper club with Jackie, Shirley, Nancy and Dawn. I still have and use the lovely tartan change purse she brought me back from Wales. REST IN PEACE LOVELY LADY, - Posted by: JoAnne Williams (Friend from Manitoba Hydro) on: Oct 14, 2015

  • I met Jackie in the early '80s and we were fast friends. Different jobs separated us over the years but some committee work brought us back together. I always appreciated her friendship, good humour and caring nature. She once shared some of her writing with me and it was very well done and very funny! My condolences to family and friends. I will miss her! - Posted by: Maureen Flynn (Co-worker and friend) on: Oct 14, 2015

  • My thoughts and prayers go out to Jackie's family. I met Jackie 25 years ago and spent numerous coffee breaks and lunch hours with her. She had a real good sense of humor and was always fun to be around. I'm quite sure a lot of people are going to miss her. - Posted by: Naomi Montpetit (Manitoba Hydro Co-worker) on: Oct 13, 2015

  • I always enjoyed our time together and often laugh about the time we went to Las Vegas and was caught in that earthquake. It was in California and when we were leaving the room people were asking you what to do and you said, not sure we are from Canada but I do know that you shouldn't use the elevator Much love to Roy and family. - Posted by: Evelyn Thordarson (First cousin ) on: Oct 10, 2015

  • I met Jackie when I joined Fort Garry Kennel Club. She was always smiling and a fun person to be around. It was obvious her dogs meant everything to her. I was saddened to learn she had cancer and even more so to hear of her passing so quickly after the diagnosis. My sympathies to all of her family. Jackie was very special and our Fort Garry Kennel Club shows will not be the same without her. Rest in peace, Jackie. - Posted by: Debbie Ammeter (Friend through Fort Garry Kennel Club) on: Oct 10, 2015
