Date of Passing: Oct 04, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySTANLEY EMIL JURKOWSKI It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather on October 4, 2015. Stan will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife Elsie, his three daughters, Carol (Scott), Donna (Tom), Diane (David), son-in-law, Mike and his nine precious grandchildren: Briana (Cody), Lisa, Michelle, Daniel, Adam (Amy), Alison (Tommy), Laura (Ross), Blake and Jared (Alyssa). Stan was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Valerie, his siblings Louis, Ed, Verna and Karoline, and parents Kazmira and Joseph. He is survived by his sisters Cecilia, and Louise (Marcel), sister-in-law Lorraine, and a large extended family. Stan joined the R.C.A.F. in 1943 and spent three years as Corporal Air Frame Mechanic, mostly in Moncton, NB repairing and flying the aircraft used in the Atlantic Submarine Patrol. Stan was a plumber and pipe fitter at CNR for 42 years until his retirement. He received long service awards from Ottawa for his many years of service in this field. Stan was a member of the Transcona Knights of Columbus Council #3853 serving in many positions, including Grand Knight. He was a charter member of the 4th degree Knights of Columbus Sir Francis Patrick Kennedy, KSG Assembly, receiving his honorary life membership in 2008. Stan was a charter member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish, serving on Parish Council, School Board and Eucharistic Minister. He was also a member of the St. John Cantius Fraternal Aid Society, the Seniors Club, local Union 254, St. John Ambulance Brigade for 20 years and Legion #7. Stan was instrumental in renaming Melrose Park to "Jurkowski Memorial Park" in honour of his parents who were pioneers of Transcona since 1917. Stan took great pleasure in all his grandchildren's interests, attending their extracurricular activities. His grandchildren were the shining stars in his life. His greatest legacy was his life as an honourable and decent man in the truest sense of the words. He was committed to his family and his community and enjoyed life to the fullest by never missing an opportunity to laugh, to dance and to care for people and to enjoy travels with Elsie. We have been truly blessed by the tremendous good fortune to have Stan as our husband, father and grandfather. We ask that you always cherish his life and memory as much as we will and remember him in your prayers. Special thanks to all the nurses and staff on Tower 7 at Deer Lodge Centre for their exceptional care and kindness in looking after Stan, their #1 guy, over the past three years. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 13 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Church, 505 Brewster St., Transcona. Private family interment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society, or a charity of your choice. Forever in our Hearts Rest in Peace Cropo Funeral Chapel 204-586-8044
