Date of Passing: Oct 09, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN (JACK) ALBERT MIDDLETON July 9, 1934 - October 9, 2015 It is with great sadness, and a heavy heart, that we announce the sudden passing of Jack on October 9, 2015 at the age of 81. Jack was predeceased by his parents Bert and Maggie Middleton, and his sister Dorothy Zillman. He is survived by his loving wife, of 60 years, Shirley (nee Skinner); and his three children David, Debbie, Jeff; grandchildren Matthew, Tenielle, William. Also, his brother Jim (Elaine) and sister Judy Williams. Jack was a great husband, loved his family and especially his grandchildren. Jack was an aircraft mechanic for Air Canada for 36 years. In 1969 he was transferred to Dorval, and returned to Winnipeg in 1976. Jack loved to play sports from Isaac Brock Community Club Hockey to Pointe Claire Oldtimers Hockey. Jack also loved golf, we played at Bel Acres, Fly-in in Steinbach and finally at La Verendrye in La Broquerie, MB. Jack retired from Air Canada, in March of 1991, sold his home in July and moved to condo life. Jack and Shirley enjoyed winters in San Antonio, for golf and of course the warm weather for 12 years. In 1998, Jack and Shirley moved to Steinbach. And they enjoyed all that life had to offer until his health got worse and sadly travel came to a halt. After Jack's stroke in August 2013, he spent 15 months in Vita Hospital and his remaining year in Bethesda place. Our family would like to express our deepest thanks to the staff of both Vita Hospital and Bethesda place; you are truly special people and because of that Jack was always happy, so thank you. Shirley and her family will have a celebration of Jack's life on October 16, 2015 at Marigold's, 2591 Portage Ave. at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Steinbach United Church, 541 Main Street, Steinbach, R5G 0J5, or charity of choice. Shirley, I remember meeting you at the old DC8 dock and nice to have a friendly Winnipeger to work with me. You were so kind. I really started to work with Jack when I departed Montreal/Dorval for Winnipeg Sept 26, 1978. Then I went to Calgary April 22, 1979 for 6 years and back to Montreal. I used to tease Jack at work and then I found out not only was he short but he had a short fuse for me. ha ha I guess I deserved it. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the kids, Shirley. We are so very sorry to hear of Jack's passing. I sure do remember (even though I was just a kid) all the golfing, trips and fun times you and Jack had with my parents Wally and Ruth and my Aunt Lucille and Uncle Arnie. RIP Jack. Dad says to have one for him on the 19th!! - Posted by: Laura Melnyk-Medven (family friend) on: Oct 14, 2015
