DENIS LEONARD After a lengthy and courageous battle with leukemia, Denis passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at the Health Sciences Centre, Winnipeg with his family by his side. Denis was born at Misericordia Hospital on October 6, 1958. He grew up in Winnipeg and was educated in Transcona and Brandon where he has maintained many friends. Denis moved to Crystal City with his wife Laurel in 2001. The Crystal City community made him feel at home and he was an active Lions Club member and a member of council. Denis was a kind and gentle soul with an incredible sense of humour. He was an avid sports fan and animal lover. Denis had a gift for seeing the positive in any situation. No matter what his illness threw at him, he responded with, "It's all good!" Denis will be lovingly remembered by his wife Laurel, his daughters Casey (Kyle) Smithson and Amy (Lee) Leonard, his parents Barbara and Tony, his sisters, Sue Leonard, Jackie (Mark) Gerelus, and Monique (Bernie) Rempel, his Rothwell "in-laws", and many cherished nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. A special place in Denis' heart belonged to his only grandson Zachary. "Bumpa" loves you very much, Zach! Denis' family would like to thank the staff on D6 at Health Sciences Centre and the Rock Lake Hospital for their wonderful care throughout the last 11 months. You have truly become part of our family. A Celebration of Denis' Life will be held at 3:00 p.m., on Friday, October 16, 2015 at the Floyd and Ethel Cudmore Community Hall in Crystal City. Please join us. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Denis' name to the Crystal City Benevolent Society, the Pembina Valley Humane Society, or the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation. Messages of Condolence may be made online at Wheatland Funeral Service 204-825-2848
