Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEARNESTINE LOUIS PELKEY (nee POITRA) Peacefully on October 13, 2015, at the Maples Personal Care Home, Erna passed away after a long, hard battle with cancer. She will be lovingly remembered by her son Raymond (Donna), her daughter Melanie; two grandsons Adam (Melissa) and William; her granddaughters Dawn-Vanessa and Louise; great-grandchildren Kara and Remy; sister Flavia; brother Art (Jean); and stepdaughters Joy and Vicki (Del). She was predeceased by her mother (1963), father (1969), son William (Billy) (1987), daughter Kimberley (2007), her four sisters, Lillian, Albertine, Laura and Clara, and her three brothers, Joe, David and Alex. Erna was born in Boggy Creek December 15, 1929. She came to Winnipeg at a young age and worked in the food service industry. After getting married, Erna stayed home to raise her children. Erna had a great heart of gold and was always willing to share whatever she had with anyone in need. She loved to play bingo and cards, plus all family gathering. Cremation has taken place. A service will be held at the Nairn-Chyz Funeral Home in Roblin, Manitoba (204-937-2111), 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 20, 2015 with a luncheon to follow. Interment following the luncheon in San Clara. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to The Canadian Cancer Society. Miss me, but let me go. When I come to the end of the road And the sun has set for me, I want no rites in the gloom-filled room, Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little, but not too long And not with your head bowed low, Remember the love that we once shared Miss me, but let me go. For this is a journey we must all take And each must go alone It's part of the Master's plan A step on the road to home. Erna had an amazing spirit and with all the hardships she suffered, kept her loving heart and gentle way.She was a loving grandmother to my six children and was always willing to help when she could.
