His memory will be forever cherished by his children, Joanne and husband Philip, Louise and husband Rick, Gregory and wife Natalia. He will be deeply missed by the light of his life, his grandchildren, Matthew, Stephen and wife Amy, and Justin Harding, Tiffaney and Melanie Pass, Brenden and Christian Wurmlinger. He also leaves to mourn his loss his loving sister Barbara Marino and husband Peter. Dad was a loving uncle and will be missed by many nieces and nephews. Dad was predeceased by his loving wife Cecilia, his parents Martin and Helen, and his sisters Mary and Kathleen (Kay). Our Dad was such a loving, caring, and gentle soul. His family meant the world to him and would do anything for us. He blessed us with so many giftshis singing, his playfulness, his compassion, his laughter, his faith and mostly his unconditional love and we thank him so much for that. He worked for many years for Modern Dairies/Beatrice. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for over fifty years where he held the position of Grand Knight and was 4th Degree Knight. He was also a member of the St. Frances Mission Church. Dad loved his cottage at Grand Beach and looked forward to going there every year. His passion was music from being choir director and singing in the choir at St. Bernadette Parish to singing at almost all his nieces and nephews weddings. Dad was one of the original members of "Sisters of The Holy Rock" and was so proud when he received his twenty year pin. He was well known for his performance of "Sister Willie Nelson" and delighted many people with this act. Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Dad's life will take place on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bernadette Parish, 820 Cottonwood with Rev. Fr. Fred Olds celebrating the service. We would like to thank the staff of 4B Family Medicine at St. Boniface Hospital who so lovingly took care of our Dad. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to a charity of one's choice in memory of our Dad. Rest in peace Daddy You will be loved and in our hearts forever. Your dad was a genuinely nice person. He was always smiling and friendly. I saw him perform many times with the Sisters and it was a real treat. You could see his enjoyment. My sympathy to you all. He will be missed. - Posted by: Marianne McClusky (Grand Beach friend) on: Oct 25, 2015

I have known Joe for a long time as I grew up on the same street that he lived on for many years. (Braemar) I am so sorry to hear about his passing. He will be sadly missed. - Posted by: Joanne Roussin (Wilson) (Friend) on: Oct 21, 2015

I was so very privileged to have sung with Joe for the past 7 years. He was truly a beautiful soul and an inspiration to be around. My last long talk with him was last spring and he shared how tired he was and how challenged he was that his body would not cooperate with his wishes! I always marvelled at his tenacity and wonderful sense of humour, even in his dark times. What a gift that he was able to perform for so long even though his health was failing. We will miss him deeply at our Sisters shows but now have a little of his light shining down on us. God bless you who are left to deal with this loss. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I'm just glad that I was able to see your dad in June and spend a few short moments with him. Mr. Wurmlinger, as I knew him, was an avid gardener and loved planting many beautiful flowers every summer in his yard with the help of his daughter Louise. Every flower had to be measured to ensure the spaces in between we're just perfect and they had to be specific flowers. When they grew, they put on a beautiful, colourful display to enjoy by all. Louise, Joanne and Greg, may you find comfort in knowing what a warm, genuine and giving person your dad was. You could see the love he had for all of you. And now he can join Henry and they can sit on their lawn chairs and enjoy their view. Take care. - Posted by: Colleen Simpson (knee Kremski) (Neighbor) on: Oct 18, 2015

Serving as an altar boy at Joe and Cecelia's wedding was a memory that I cherish to this day. Joe and I worked together at Modern Dairies during the summers when I was a high school student. He was always friendly and kind and I remember his good sense of humor and wit. Having spent most of my adult life in Eastern Canada, I regret I didn't get to know my uncle better, except for short visits during vacation. However, he did leave me with fond memories of the times we were together. My Uncle Joe was a fine gentleman. Len Kubas - Posted by: Joseph John Wurmlinger (Nephew) on: Oct 17, 2015

Having the opportunity to sing alongside Joe for close to 10 years was more than inspirational. Joe's sense of humour and his love of entertaining meant so much to everyone. The occasions when I accompanied Joe in the Willie Nelson duet as Julio were the best times of my life in the Sisters. Joe was one of a kind and never replaceable. He inspired all of us in the infamous 'back row'. Goodbye my friend. You are sorely missed. - Posted by: william helgason and lorraine helgason (friends) on: Oct 17, 2015
