Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHELEN ANNE LEDWOS It is with sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of our cherished Helen, our mother and Nana on October 19, 2015 at the Selkirk General Hospital. Helen was the beloved wife of Frank Ledwos, who predeceased her on March 17, 2014. She is lovingly remembered by her children Kenneth (Lise), Donald (Irene), and Colleen; nine grandchildren Justin, Jessica (Matt), Justin, Nicole, Hope, Sacha, Cal (Tiffany), Daniel (Krystin) and Brittany; three great-grandchildren Nikolai, Chloe and Nora. Helen is also survived by her sister Vicki and sisters-in-law Helen and Mariola. She was predeceased by her brothers John, Michael and Stanley. Helen was born on November 5, 1927 in Selkirk, MB to Nicholas and Rose Krut. She married Frank on August 23, 1952 and they were blessed with three children. Helen worked as a tax clerk/secretary for the Town of Selkirk for 37 years until both her and Frank retired in 1990. Her retirement years were happily spent looking after her grandchildren, relaxing at the cabin, cooking, flower and vegetable gardening, catching her numerous master angler walleyes, and attending hockey games for the Selkirk Steelers. She was more than happy to share her love of knitting and cooking with her daughter and granddaughter. She was always a big supporter of her grandchildren's sports activities and made sure she was always there to cheer them on. Helen and Frank enjoyed many weekends at the cabin with the family picking wild mushrooms, blueberries, and watching their grandchildren jumping off the dock while sitting in their favorite orange chairs. A Mass celebrating Helen's life will be held on Saturday, October 24 at 10:30 a.m. at the Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church at 269 Jemima Street, Selkirk, MB. A reception will follow the Mass at the Gilbart Reception Center. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba. I was very sad to hear of the passing of Aunt Helen. I am glad I got to see her and uncle Frank a few times over the last few years when I was in town visiting. Our love and thoughts are with Kenneth, Donald, Colleen and their partners, children and the whole extended family during this difficult time.
