MARTHA BACH October 27, 1910 - October 16, 2015 With great sadness the family announces the peaceful passing of their dearly beloved, Mother, Grandmother (Granny), Great-Grandmother (Great-Granny), and Great-Great Grandmother (Great-Great Granny). She passed away peacefully on October 16, 2015, at 7:10 p.m. at Actionmarguerite (St. Boniface) previously known as Taché Personal Care Home in Winnipeg, MB. She left this world 11 days shy of another milestone - 105 years young. Martha had a large family that loved her deeply. All are very saddened to part with her as she was with us for 104 plus years. She will be greatly missed. Family was her life, love and pure enjoyment. Her family members consisted of: seven children: Ralph and Anita (deceased during infancy), Florence (married to Ervin Ziprick (deceased)), Agnes (married to Don DesJarlais), Phyllis (married to Jack Joyce (both deceased)), Wilma (married to Jack Pritchard), Donnie (married to Jean). 15 grandchildren: Florence/Ervin Ziprick: Wayne (deceased); Daryl (Debbie); Shelly (Paul Girardin); Penny (Dennis Sokolowski) and Marlis (Jeff Miller). Agnes/Don DesJarlais: Brent (Paula); David (Wendy) and Weldon (Liz). Wilma/Jack Pritchard: Colin (Susan); Melodi and Bradley (Nancy). Donnie/Jean Bach: Brenda (Ralph Hagen); Bruce (deceased); Robert and Allan (Sandra). 13 great-grandchildren: Shelly/Paul Girardin: Michael (Bonnie); Monique and Matthew (Desiree). Colin/Susan Pritchard: Justin; Jason and Connor. Bradley/Nancy Pritchard: Bailey and Ashton. Brenda/Ralph Hagen: Jennie (Rob Leriger); Alyssa (Jason van Keulen) and Jillian (Jeff Carmicheal). Bruce (deceased)/Sharon: Tyler. Allan/Sandra: Cassie. 11 great-great-grandchildren: Michael/Bonnie (Miles and Mireille); Matthew/Desiree (Dallas, Hudson and Lily); Jenni/Rob (Penny, Piper and Axl); Alicia/Jason (Zoe, Ruby and Lucy). Martha was predeceased by her husband John, six brothers Robert (Bob), Paul, Herman (Harry), Edward (Eddy), Walter (Wally), and Lawrence, and two sisters, Freda Bezo and Alma Gariepy. She is survived by one sister Emily Bauer of Roblin, MB. Martha was married in 1926, to the love of her life, John Bach. With great shock and sadness, she lost him at a very young age, on August 29, 1954. They started their life together, on a farmstead, in the RM of Boulton, MB. Farming was a passion of their lives and they would often take a walk through their farmyard, holding hands and enjoying their many accomplishments and blessings. They were devastated when a chimney fire claimed their entire home and belongings, on Boxing Day, in 1935. She moved to Winnipeg (St. Boniface), in 1955, and joined Calvary Temple, where she remained an active member until her passing. She had a very strong faith in our Lord and Saviour, and near the end of her life here on earth, she asked our Dear Lord to take her home (her eternal home) to be with her one and only true love, John, for whom she remained faithful for 89 years. While living in Winnipeg she worked at Universal Printers, up until the age of 65, when she retired. After that she never remained idle, she always kept herself busy, with babysitting grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved travelling and was very adventurous and still travelled until the age of 96 when her dream of taking an Alaskan cruise, came true. She continued to take local day trips, throughout Manitoba with other seniors, from the complex where she resided. She enjoyed, knitting/crocheting and of course sewing. She never quit until after the age of 101, when she could no longer see to thread her sewing machine. She was a wonderful cook, and loved to entertain her family and grandchildren, who were always amazed at her ability to test a new recipe, taken from the Winnipeg Free Press. Her family is left with many fond memories of delicious items she would cook or bake, including but definitely not limited to, butter tarts, plum dumplings, gingerbread cookies, baking powder biscuits, rhubarb-custard pie and her absolute favorite apple pie. She never lost her love of eating, and never failed to enquire from Penny and/or Shelly "What's for Supper"? To the absolute end of her stay on earth, she never missed a day or a time, when she did not say "Thank-you Nurse", to all staff that cared for her at Taché Centre (including her granddaughters Penny and Shelly). Martha will be laid to rest on Friday, October 23, 2015. Service will be held at the Alliance Church in Russell, MB, at 2:00 p.m.. Her final resting place will be alongside her beloved John, at the Freefield South Cemetery. Special thanks goes to the wonderful, personal care team, at the Taché Centre, who took exceptional care of Granny, they always addressed her as "Our Little Martha". Thanks to Miles for the happy moments that he gave his Great-Great-Granny, and the colorful drawings and his little smile he shared with her which cheered her heart and brightened her days, she always appreciated the "little rubs on the arms". Although flowers are appreciated, we would decline, and ask that "In lieu of", donations be made to the Freefield South Cemetery Fund, Inglis, Manitoba. Remembrances and condolences may be emailed to bbfs@mymts.net Braendle-Bruce Funeral Service of Russell, MB is in care of arrangements. (204) 773-2747.
