DORIS LOUISE KELLY (nee AYRES) October 3, 1924 - October 20, 2015 Born in Toronto, Ontario, our beloved Mom passed away with family at her side on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 in Niverville, Manitoba. Predeceased by her husband, Gerald; sister, Lillian; brothers, Roy and Leslie. Doris leaves to mourn her five children: Karen (Harry) of Coquitlam, BC, Louise (Dave) of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Lenora (predeceased by Gary) of Winnipeg, Randy (Linda) of Winnipeg and Tina (Keith) of Edmonton, Alberta. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren: Mark and Michael, Bruce and Bryan, Adrien and Crystal, Shanna and Rory, Adam and Colin, and 15 great-grandchildren. Mom devoted herself to her husband and children. She loved camping (even seeing North America in two week trips), knitting, crosswords, Girl Guides and her many church activities. She especially liked planning practical jokes for the annual ladies retreat. Dad's job took them from Pickering, New Liskeard and Windsor, Ontario, to Winnipeg and to Winkler, Manitoba. Besides being the greatest Mom ever, two significant accomplishments stand out to us. After the kids left home she earned a Care Aide certificate from Middlechurch home. Later, as a widow at 61, she bought a new purple car, got it delivered to her driveway and then signed up for driving lessons. In Mom was a special heart that was touched by God. Her faithful love of Jesus her Saviour was at the core of who she was. What comfort it is for us to know she is now in her heavenly home, eternally embraced in God's love. Throughout her life, Doris opened her home and her heart to others. Whether that was through foster parenting or in providing shelter to those in need, Doris lived out her faith through generosity and hospitality. To honour Doris' memory, donations may be made to Naomi House, a transitional housing initiative for newcomers to Canada: Doris Kelly - Naomi House Project (payable to) City Church of Winnipeg Inc. 360 Hillary Cr. Winnipeg, MB R2Y 0Y7. More information on Naomi House can be found at: http://www.citychurchwinnipeg.ca/naomi-house As a family we sincerely thank all the staff that cared for mom in Heritage Life Personal Care Home in Niverville, for their attentive kindness to mom and to us as family throughout her stay. Family and friends are invited to join us for a service of remembrance to take place Friday, October 30, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. (CDT) at City Church, 484 Maryland Ave., Winnipeg (regretfully not wheelchair accessible).
