RACHEL R. BOND 1919 - 2015 Peacefully, we announce the passing of Rachel on October 21, 2015 at Golden West Centennial Lodge. Rachel is survived by her three sons and their families, Wayne, Rose, Keith, Ceny, Eric, Donna, ten grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Carmen, in April 1989, and daughter Doreen, in March 2012. Rachel was very active in Salvation Army Church in Nova Scotia and Winnipeg. Her minister stretched beyond the church walls to the Grace Hospital where she found fulfillment in her calling at a Registered Nurse. Rachel had the gift of hospitality and loved to entertain. Her last days were spent in Sturgeon II in her cozy apartment, followed by a short time in Golden West Centennial Lodge. Her presence will be missed by so many friends and relatives. The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Golden West Extendicare, and a special mention to Sharon Wynne who was such a loving care giver. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rachel's name to the Carmen Bond Memorial Fund at The Salvation Army Heritage Park Temple. A visitation will be held Sunday, October 25 from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 26, 2015 at The Salvation Army Heritage Park Temple, 825 School Road, Winnipeg, MB with reception to follow.
