ANN CAMERON (née HOWES) Peacefully, on Friday, October 23, 2015, at Wayside House in Victoria, BC, Ann Cameron passed away. Ann leaves her only daughter Pamela Cameron and Pam's husband Ray Fillion of Winnipeg, her grandson Daniel Fillion of Vietnam and Ray's daughter Daphne Enns and family of Nova Scotia, as well as her cousin Audrey Riller of Victoria, sister-in-law Barbara Robertson of Victoria and brother-in-law Sandy Cameron of Calgary. Ann was the daughter of a pioneering family in Great Falls, Manitoba. She moved to Winnipeg where she met and married Bruce Cameron, her loving husband of over 30 years, who predeceased her in 1985. She was delighted to become a grandmother and took great pleasure in introducing Daniel to children's theatre and also enjoyed hearing of his success in sports. More recently, she was intrigued to hear of all his travels to foreign countries and followed along closely with her atlas. Ann shared a love of art with Daphne. Ann was a dedicated, lifelong member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist in Winnipeg where she held a number of positions. She was most proud to have been First Reader there for several years. She enjoyed the past 11 years in the company of fellow residents at Lindenwood Manor in Winnipeg. Ann had varied interests. She was a beautiful watercolor artist. She grew prize-winning violets. She was interested in current affairs and in protecting the environment. She took a keen interest in genealogy and enjoyed searching her family records on trips with her sister-in-law. She took courses in creative writing and authored a delightful book on the early years in Great Falls. At an advanced age, she mastered the art of Tai Chi and she tried very hard to keep up with technology. We will miss Ann's always-cheerful nature and "glass half full" attitude. She never criticized and always saw only the best in every person and in every situation. Much gratitude must go to the caring staff at Wayside House in Victoria where Ann spent her final days. Cremation has taken place and, at Ann's request, there will be no service.
