HARRY ROSENBERG January 16, 1922 - November 3, 2015 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Harry Rosenberg at St. Boniface Hospital, lovingly surrounded by all of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Becky (Stern); brother Mickey (Pearl) Rosenberg; three children Janis (Arthur) Ross of Vancouver, Ken (Vivian) Rosenberg of Vancouver, Faren (Keevin) Bernstein; eight grandchildren Robyn, Tami (Andrew), Jamey (Justine), Corey, Suzanne (Kevin), Kylie, Brayden, and Griffin; great-granddaughters Siena and Elly. Harry was predeceased by his parents, Esther and Morris Rosenberg, his oldest brother Sam, twin brother Max, sisters Becky Ruvinsky and Fan Simkin. He will be lovingly remembered and missed by his surviving in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends. Harry was born in Rossburn, MB and spent his early years in small towns in Saskatchewan. Leaving home at 17, he moved to Winnipeg where he later enlisted in the Canadian Air Force and served for three years as a commissioned officer. After the war, he found his calling with London Life, embarking on a successful 47 year career as a financial planner and insurance representative. Affectionately known as the "godfather", he mentored generations of younger colleagues who maintained close friendships with him throughout his life. He was well-respected for his honesty, integrity, and client service, receiving the highest accolades within his profession. Harry and Becky's 70 year marriage was a partnership of love and devotion to each other, their immediate and extended families, friends, and community. Post retirement, they were able to enjoy travel, winters in Palm Springs, golf at Glendale, and bridge with friends. Harry was grateful to be healthy and active to the age of 91, attending Bomber games, his grandchildren's sporting and life events, and participating in Shaftesbury life. To know Harry was to love him. With a twinkle in his eye and a warm smile, he embraced all aspects of life with a passion and youthful enthusiasm that was contagious. A genuine, good-natured, pragmatic man, Harry lived his positive philosophy on a daily basis, sharing it widely with others. Thank you to the staff of Shaftesbury Retirement Residence for enhancing his quality of life over the last seven years. Special thanks to Dr. Chris Sathianathan for his exceptional care. Funeral services were held at Congregation Etz Chayim on November 4, 2015. Donations may be made to the Becky and Harry Rosenberg Fund at the Jewish Foundation or to a charity of your choice. You will live on in our hearts and minds forever.
