GORDON RICHARD NESKAR Peacefully on Thursday, November 5, 2015 Gordon Richard Neskar passed away at Health Sciences Centre at 70 years of age. Gordon will be sadly missed by his son Mark, daughters Tanya (Jarod) and Heather, grandchildren Maelyn and Jake, and his sister Betty Pitsanuk and her family. He is predeceased by his parents John and Katherine Nieckarz and brother Burnell. Gordon (Gord) was born on June 27, 1945 and resided in Hazelridge, MB. He lived with his parents on their family farm until he moved to Winnipeg as a young man. After a few years of living in Winnipeg and working odd jobs, he started his career with Centra Gas (ICG), which later merged with Manitoba Hydro. After his retirement from Manitoba Hydro, he worked for Akman Management as the caretaker of the Queensbury Apartments in West Kildonan. This position was the perfect fit for him as it kept him busy maintaining the property but also provided many opportunities to socialize with tenants and friends in the neighborhood. Gord was an avid sports fan; he liked team sports such as hockey, baseball and football. He enjoyed the game of golf and spent many hours on the links in Selkirk and various other courses. Gord also enjoyed listening to country western music, word search puzzle books, going for walks in the neighborhood or for a workout at the Wellness Institute. Most of all he looked forward to meeting his coffee buddies every morning at Tim's. By far, his greatest interest and love was that of his family. His children and grandchildren were always near to his heart. He treasured spending time with all of them and took great pride in their accomplishments as children and adults. His presence and involvement in family life will truly be missed. The family would like to thank the exceptional nursing and health care team from RR6 at HSC for overseeing his care with compassion. As per his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will take place on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. The family respectfully requests no flowers. If friends so desire, donations in memory of Gordon Neskar can be made to CancerCare Manitoba. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 204-586-8044

  • I'm so sorry for the loss of your dad, he was a wonderful person and caretaker. I moved in here two years ago after losing my husband to cancer. I myself had two operations for cancer last year. Gord did things for me that weren't his job to do but did it as a kind, caring person he was. I didn't know he was sick, I last seen him Sept 12th sitting on the outside steps. I started to wonder why I hadn't seen him since, I was in shock to hear of his cancer. I will truly miss him and his smile. My thoughts are of his family and of the great man Gord was. - Posted by: Heather Paintin (tentant ) on: Nov 10, 2015
