GEORGIE REBA GRAWBERGER
Born: May 14, 1925
Date of Passing: Nov 09, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGIE REBA (MAY) GRAWBERGER (nee TYLER) May 14, 1925 - November 9, 2015 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dear mother on November 9, 2015 at Rest Haven Personal Care Home in Steinbach, at the age of 90. Mom is survived by sons Harold (Bernice), Bert (Gisele), daughter Marcedith (Jack), grandchildren: Geoffrey (Nahannai), Derek (Andrea), Collin, Clayton (Tracy), Blake (Erin), Diana (Mark), Michael (Anelia), Candace (Bill), J.J., Carol Anne (Keith), Dylan, and Brock, 18 great-grandchildren, brother, Jim Tyler (Doris), and numerous nephews and nieces. Predeceased by her husband Alfred in 1994, sons David and Norman, two grandchildren William and Darryl, brothers, Hiram, Grant, Ben, Duane, sisters Emma, Irene and their spouses, as well several brothers and sisters-in-law. Mom was born in Riding Mountain, MB to Norman and Reba Tyler on May 14, 1925. She moved to Piney with her family in 1946 and in 1950 married Alfred Grawberger. Mom and Dad took over the Grawberger family mixed farming operation where they raised their family. Mom resided at her home in Piney until November 2011 when she moved to assisted living in Steinbach. Since leaving her home in 2011, she had moved three times. Mom embraced each move and had a way of touching the hearts of all the staff members she encountered along the way - many continued to drop by for a visit. She truly enjoyed each visit with family and friends, and always showed her true appreciation for those visits. While residing in Piney, Mom was an active member of the community and the church. She participated on many committees that were instrumental in initiating projects that the community benefits from to this day: Piney Women's Institute, Ladies Legion Auxiliary, Piney History Book, Badger Cemetery, Over 40 Club, the Merry Eatery, just to name a few. Being a community member was a responsibility that Mom took seriously, so seriously she was sure to review the monthly board meeting minutes at Rest Haven. She has passed that legacy on to her oldest living son. Mom's fondest community membership was with International Christian Fellowship Church. Mom thoroughly enjoyed fellowship with other church community members. Some of her greatest joys were teaching Sunday school, playing the piano at church and funeral services until her move in 2011. She was especially fond of her Prayer Sisters. Mom loved to share her gifts and continued to do so through attending Chapel, Hymn Sing and playing the piano for services at Rest Haven until her passing. She also kept her mind sharp with her favourite pastimes, which included working on jigsaw puzzles, colouring (being very sure to stay within the lines,) the weekly puzzles found in the Carillon News and the Rest Haven Coffee Grinder, and faithfully reading her bible daily. In her 90 years, through her faith, she accepted the challenges that were presented without despair. Gently in her sleep she accepted her Saviour's hand. Mom you are gone, but will never be forgotten. The family would like to express a sincere thank you to the caring staff and volunteers at the Rest Haven Personal Care Home for making "Miss May" feel so appreciated. A celebration of Mom's life will be held at the International Christian Fellowship Church in Piney, MB at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 14, 2015. Viewing at the church will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment to follow at the Badger Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Badger Community Cemetery. "My joys have been as deep as the ocean My sorrows as light as its foam And now that my life upon this world has ended Heaven is now my home"
