LAURETTA MAY HIEBERT (nee MORDEN) February 15, 1927 - November 8, 2015 At the age of 88, at the St. Norbert Personal Care Home, May fell asleep peacefully and is now resting in the arms of God. May was born and raised in Tyndall, Manitoba to parents Fred and Lily Morden (nee Sandberg). Her memory will be cherished by her husband of 70 years, Mervin, daughters Joy Buset (Donald) and Heather Hiebert, and sons Garth, Brad (Shelagh) and Miles (Tammy). She will be missed by her brothers Ronald Morden (Pat), Blake Morden (Shirley), sister Marilyn Wesson (John) and sister-in-law Patricia Morden. She will be mourned by her grandchildren Jennifer Labossiere (Dean), Michael Roberts (Trina) and Andrea Roberts, Echo and Aaron Buset, North and Mya Hiebert, and Michaela Hiebert. Also great-grandchildren Olivia Lamirande/Roberts and Mattix Roberts, and Taylor, Alex and Wyatt Roberts as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first born son James Ralph, her parents, and her brother David (Bud) Morden. May met her husband Mervin in Steinbach, Manitoba when she was 15 and he was 16 and it was love at first sight! They were married in Tyndall, Manitoba on November 24, 1945 after three years of courtship and lived happily ever after. She stayed home to raise her family until the youngest was of school age. May had her first job at The Bay in the jewelry department and later opened her own business which was a retail outlet for Morden's of Winnipeg candy store. While working long, hard hours at the store, she also took night classes at the University of Manitoba, eventually graduating with a B.A. majoring in Psychology. After that she spent a couple of years researching and compiling a family tree of the Morden family. She spent the last six years of her life in the care of the dedicated staff of the St. Norbert Personal Care Home, where she was visited almost daily by her devoted husband Mervin. The family would like to extend their warmest, heartfelt thanks for the loving care of the St. Norbert Care Home staff who treated her like their own mother. Cremation has already taken place and interment will take place at a later date. Please join with us in a celebration of her life at Westminster United Church (corner of Maryland and Westminster), Saturday, November 14, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, should anyone wish, donations can be made in memory of May, to the Alzheimer Society or any charity of your choice.

  • My wonderful Aunt. I love you so much. You took such good care of me. - Posted by: Warren Wesson () on: Jan 31, 2016

  • My condolences to Lauretta's family. I remember Lauretta serving me (too often as I was obsessed) at Morden's when they had a store in the Convention Centre. She was such a nice, friendly person and not just because she was making a sale. She was genuine, she took time to chat and get to know people rather then shew them out quickly. She was a good soul. - Posted by: Marilyn Cudmore (past customer) on: Dec 03, 2015
