BRENT LIONEL BEATON July 9, 1941 - November 3, 2015 He had the gentlest of souls and the kindest of hearts. We will miss him. With sadness, as well as gratefulness for his life, the family announces the passing of our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and Papa. Brent is survived by his loving wife Delores Strasser; children, John Beaton (Jukeepa), Darlene Chubak (Darryl), Claudette Beaton (Tony), Shelly Lashway (Chad), Michelle Beaton and step-children Kevin Bresky (Crystal) and Kathy Bresky (Doug). Proud Papa also leaves his grandchildren, Derek (Amanda), TJ (Nikki), Drayson, Dreanne, Brendan, Kyle, Lily, Jordyn (Chantal), Destinee, Abigail, Sheldon Jr. (Laura), Leah; step-grandchildren, Robert, Carlyn, Riley, Chris and Jessa, as well as his special great-grandchildren, Graicee, Dylan, Malachi, Logan, Tyden, Kyra and Zaydin. He is also lovingly remembered by his sister Trudy Kabel (Dunc); brother-in-law Norman Reid (Doris); sister-in-law Shirley Nisbet; former daughter-in-law Cindy Beaton; sons-in-law Sheldon Olivier, Nik Sergenese and many loved nieces and nephews. Brent was predeceased by his first wife Sharon (nee Reid), sister Rhonda and brothers Cliff, Kim and Riel. Dad's family was everything to him. While working hard all his life, including many years owning Churchill Taxi, he always put time with his family as a priority. Many wonderful memories for his kids were made experiencing various adventures and fun camping trips. Your "go to guy", Dad could fix anything and was ready and willing to lend a hand before being asked. That is just who he was. During his years in Churchill, Brent touched many lives with his generosity and friendliness and there are many grateful members of his Churchill family that will remember him with fondness. After his retirement, Brent and Delores settled in Dauphin where they enjoyed their time just being together and travelling when possible. Their love for each other made for years of joy and contentment, however not near long enough. Brent's children wish to thank Delores for her unwavering commitment of love and care she gave Dad during these past few years and especially during his illness. We couldn't have asked for him to be in better hands than yours. A celebration of Brent's life will be held on Saturday December 5, 2015 at 2:00pm at the Rockwood Legion, 341 Wilton Street, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to either CancerCare Manitoba or the Salvation Army, an organization dear to his heart. Until we meet again Papa-san.

Condolences & Memories (8 entries)

  • My grandfather was my bestfriend. Years have passed without you but I still think of you most days. My papa used to call me his butterball, which still makes me smile. Papa was the ultimate hero and always there when anyone needed him. I am sad I didn't get to spend the last few years with him but I am so happy he got to meet his Great-Granddaugher. Both my Papa and Grandma now watch from the sky and we will live our lives in honor of you both. I love you papa ❤️ - Posted by: Abigail (granddaughter) on: Oct 31, 2021

  • Ten years to have Brent in my life was not nearly long enough. He was the kindest most gentle man, he would give the shirt off his back for anyone. Brent will be sadly missed by his family and friends. He put up a brave and long fight with cancer, never complaining. Love you Brent. Delores - Posted by: Delores Strasser (spouse) on: Nov 19, 2015
