Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWALTER (WALLY) BARYLA October 11, 1932 - November 8, 2015 Regretfully, we announce the passing of Walter Wally' Baryla. Walter passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family in Winnipeg, Manitoba on the morning of November 8, 2015. He was the cornerstone of his family and a dearly loved and cherished father, grandfather, neighbour and friend. Pops' will be deeply missed by his daughters Kim and Mitzi, his sons Robert and Patrick, his grandchildren Brett, Livia and Faith, his daughter-in-law Sandra, and by his extended family and friends. Walter was a charismatic man with a twinkle in his eye and a strong will. He was born on October 11, 1932 in the RM of Rosedale, Manitoba to parents William and Martha (nee Andruniak). As a child, Walter walked from the Birnie family farm (landmarked by the big red barn) to attend the Big Valley School'. After a time logging and on the rails, he moved to Neepawa, Manitoba where he started his family. Later, he left the simple life for the big city of Winnipeg, and embarked on a 40 year long career with Greyhound as a driver. Walter took an interest in everything and actively followed current events, reading the paper, listening to the radio and watching the nightly news. He loved to share his new found knowledge with everyone. He enjoyed time at Twin Beaches and Clear Lake and travelled, but his home was his castle and he was most happy working in the yard and the garden, or supervising' curling on TV. Walter's life has a soundtrack of country music, Johnny Cash, Ray Price, Loretta Lynn...; and although Wally was a bit of a homebody, he was quick to get tickets whenever his favourite singer, George Jones came into town, listening especially for the songs Choices' and I don't need no rocking chair!'. Walter had a genuine interest in people and remembered names and details about seemingly everyone he met. Family was foremost in his mind, and providing them a good life was central to him as he made choices and navigated through his life. Walter was at peace when he passed after 83 years of a rich and wonderful life. In his words, The Big Guy's been good to me'. He will be long remembered and deeply missed. Our family extends every thanks for all the prayers and support. If friends so desire, a donation may be made in his name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Canadian Diabetes Association. Cremation has taken place. A Tribute service is being held Monday, November 16 at 5:00 p.m. at Thomson "In the Park", 1291 McGillvray Blvd., Winnipeg.
