ALFRED ARNDT It is with great sadness we announce that Alfred Arndt passed away at Riverview Health Centre on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at the age of 76 years. He is survived by his wife Mary Anne, and son Allan. Alfred was born at the beginning of Second World War in Poland. His family immigrated to Canada in 1951. Alfred was employed at Health Sciences Centre from 1964 until his retirement in 2000. He was recognized for his very caring and compassionate service to patients, and his steadfast and dedicated friendship for the people who were his colleagues. He was a very quiet man who had a big heart, was able to listen with empathy, and often was able to bring understanding and comfort to those he met. He experienced many health issues beginning at an early age, but always maintained a determined and positive attitude. He highly valued family life and looked forward with eager anticipation to annual vacations, travelling and camping across Canada and the U.S. He enjoyed fishing, and watching NHL hockey games. He contributed to the community by volunteering, officiating at amateur swimming competitions, as well as serving at the Agape Soup Kitchen, and later at Siloam Mission. Recently he served on the Board of Directors at Autumn House. We, the family, express our deepest gratitude to those who cared for Alfred over many years. We thank friends and family for the support we received during his recent hospitalizations. Especially, we thank Dr. Brian Penner for the many years of medical care he provided. A Celebration of Alfred's life will be held at First Mennonite Church, 922 Notre Dame Avenue on Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. Viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. If desired, donations may be made to Siloam Mission.
