AGATHA (LIL) DERKSEN Peacefully on the morning of November 14, 2015, Agatha (Lil) Derksen (nee Stoesz) passed away at Bethania Personal Care Home at the age of 90. Lil be will sadly missed by her children Richard (Sabina), Robert (Carrie), William (Carol), and Shelley (Kane); seven granddaughters Laura, Jacquelyn, Lindsay, Madelaine, Caileigh, Samantha and Katie; one much loved great-granddaughter Emily of Argentina; her life-long friend and sister Trudy Harms of Altona; her brother John (Betty) of Vulcan, Alberta; numerous nieces and nephews; in particular Don Harms and Diana Charles; and many close friends, especially Chris Munroe and his mother Rose. She was predeceased by her husband Isaac; twin brother Jake; sister Tina; brothers Hank and David, and two infant sons. Lil was born to Sarah and David Stoesz in the small village of Krohnstahl, Manitoba where she spent a happy childhood. She had many fond memories of life at this beautiful farm. She dreamed of being a farmer's wife but in 1949 she met and married Ike, a city man. Together they moved to Winnipeg where they started their family. Lil's passions were her family, mothering any who needed it, painting when the spirit moved her, her beloved pets and the beauty of the natural world. She spent many joyful hours painting landscapes and scenes from her life. A celebration of Lil's full and happy life will be held on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Mennonite Church, 465 Stafford Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, Bethania Personal Care Home, Fort Whyte Alive or to a charity of one's choice.
