Joel, Valerie, Melanie, Stephanie, Julie, and Evelyne... I am so sorry to hear of your loss. The loss of a parent is one of the greatest sorrows, so I am thinking of you all. I have such great memories of your dad, your house, and your dad's meat shop. It is engrained in my head the entrance to the store, walking into the front (and sometimes getting a glimpse of the back!!), and then Melanie would ask for us (since we were too shy) for a piece of his amazing beef jerky. He would always say yes, would open the large jar he would store them in, and let us have a piece. It truly is a scene that plays in my head over and over again- like in the movies, a child's reflection on their past, and one of their biggest memories is going into an old-style candy shop, with the light shining dimly through the smoky windows, and being treated special. However MY childhood had no candy shop, but instead, a meat shop, with your dad as that man (like in the movies) that makes that one kid feel so special. I thank you, and thank your dad for the wonderful memories... and just maybe, in another place right now, my mom is walking into your dad's meat shop and is greeted with a Victor smile, and a perfect piece of jerky.
