MARIE RUTH EGNELL (MARTIN) June 4, 1931 - November 2, 2015 Mum fought hard to stay with us, but on Monday November 2, 2015 with her family around her, she looked at us and said, "Daddy wants to go home now". She is at peace, finally reunited with her husband after 26 years apart. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Darren (Cindy), Allison (Ken), Grant (Heather) and Arlene (Peter); her grandchildren Dustin, Courtney, Hailey, and Chloe; her siblings Lizzy (Rod), Joey (Mary), Gloria (Don), Sylvia (Dick), Teresa and in-law Margaret along with numerous nieces, nephews and good friends. Marie was predeceased by her husband Ken; her parents Peter and Rose; her brothers Peter, John and Danny, and her in-laws, Herman, Selma and Edith. Mum lived a good life. She was a loving, caring and generous person. She was born in Winnipeg and attended St. Joseph's Academy. Mom and Dad married on July 2, 1954 and built a home in Garden City where they raised their family. She worked at an insurance office and then later on, after her children were older at H&R Block until she retired . Marie's passion was dolls, she became an avid doll collector and artisan making hundreds of beautiful dolls. She was a member of the Manitoba Doll Club. Mom loved spending time with family and friends. We always knew we could count on mum whenever we needed her. Thank you to everyone who took part in mom's care, both at home and at Riverview Health Centre (3East and CD1), she was truly appreciative of everyone who was there for her. Thanks to all the family and friends who took the time to sit and visit with mom. As per mom's wishes, cremation has taken place, internment will take place at a later date.
