Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDARCI MARIE INSTANCE-LISKIE Darci Marie Instance-Liskie, born April 23, 1988, of Winnipeg, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Saturday, November 21, 2015 after a long and courageous battle with Cancer. Darci is survived by her beloved husband Ashton Liskie, her two dogs Chesney and Bentley, her mom Connie, dad Bruce (Denise), brother Derek (Erica), niece Ryan, father-in-law Gus Liskie and mother-in-law Donna Liskie, grandparents Blanche and Dunc Davis, her many aunts, uncles, cousins and the countless number of friends Darci developed over 27 years of life. Darci was predeceased by her granddad and grandma, Fred and Joanne Instance, and her uncle Randy Bilyk. Darci, from the time she was a young child, had a stubbornness and a determination about her that wouldn't hold her back from doing whatever it is she wanted to. Darci played numerous sports, but most notably was involved in hockey. She started playing this game she came to love at the age of seven. She played her minor hockey in the Midland / North Winnipeg / St. James areas. When Darci was 17 she was playing with the St. James Canadians AA Midget team. This is where Darci encountered her first "battle". She would not let this hold her back. The following year she moved into the M.W.J.H.L. to continue her hockey career with the Polar Ice. She proceeded to play for four years with another "battle" interrupting part of one season. Once again she did not let this hold her back. She finished her playing career with multiple All Star appearances, a shared MVP of the Year award and numerous other accomplishments and accolades. Although her playing career ended, she loved the game of hockey so much, she continued to coach. Over the past three seasons Darci has coached her beloved Western Predators, last year leading them to the M.W.J.H.L. Provincial Championship, League Championship and LG Tournament Championship. Darci took great pride in being able to give back to Pediatric Cancer when possible. One main highlight to this was being able to donate 16 I-Pads with protective cases from organizing a golf tournament. She also participated and raised money in many Relay for Life events. Darci had many other passions as well. She loved to travel, she loved to camp and she loved music, country music mostly! Darci has left a large footprint on life. She has had the ability to meet and touch so many lives. Her positive attitude, courageousness, fight and love for life will live on with all who had the honour and privilege of being able to interact with her at least once. "Darci, we all love you so much and this isn't goodbye, it's until we meet again!" A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 27, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of Christ, 170 St. Mary's Rd., Winnipeg, Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Pediatrics or Make a Wish Foundation. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website. My heart is very sad when I heard about Darci's passing this past Saturday. She was a smiling face over the years at Fantasy Lake, helping to run the shop (and giving me tips with her dad) where I golfed each week. Darci was an inspiration to us all when we raised funds for iPads for the children's hospital, an event she headed! Such an incredible woman who touched many lives... May we all live our lives to the fullest like Darci did each day! My thoughts are with you Bruce and family & Jackie and family at Fantasy Lake. - Posted by: Kelle Greene (Golf friend) on: Nov 26, 2015

It was my privilege to know your daughter, sister and wife. I will always remember her for the courage and determination she showed when fighting her disease. Mostly though, I will remember the great pride she took when telling me how happy she was about her student teaching, and then teaching her "girls" the systems in hockey. She knew her Preds were "the best". I will never forget you, Darci. - Posted by: Linda Benson (Hockey friend) on: Nov 25, 2015

Darcy was an amazing person with so many positive qualities. Seems to me she lovingly embraced every moment she was given. I'm fortunate to have seen her smile and the permanent twinkle in her eyes as she greeted me in class with "Hey Brake, how's it going?" - Posted by: Phil Brake (Teacher/Student) on: Nov 25, 2015

Connie, Bruce and Carol I am so sorry to hear that Darci has lost the battle. Take comfort in knowing that she is now with Joanne who I'm sure helped to teach her to fight the disease right until the bitter end. Unfortunately I only knew her as a young child but from what I heard and read she was a terrific woman and you Connie and Bruce should be very proud. I know you too, Carol, loved her and were proud of her as well. Rosemary (Princess House and Optionelle Consultant) - Posted by: Rosemary Wylie (Family Friemd) on: Nov 25, 2015

Bruce and Denise, Ashton and family... she was an amazing woman who's legacy will reach farther and live longer than her short stay here. “What Cancer Cannot Do” Cancer is so limited.. It cannot cripple LOVE – It cannot shatter HOPE – It cannot corrode FAITH – It cannot destroy PEACE – It cannot kill FRIENDSHIP – It cannot suppress MEMORIES – It cannot silence COURAGE – It cannot invade the SOUL – It cannot steal eternal LIFE – It cannot conquer the SPIRIT” - Posted by: Marie (family friend) on: Nov 25, 2015

I had the pleasure of watching tthis girl try her hand at handball for one season. She never really got the hang of it but she laughed her way through it! Her hilarious comments and constant commentary made this one of those seasons we laughed through. We never got to play handball again but luckily kept in contact through other guest appearances in other sports where her amazing personality was always present. I'm sad that I didn't get to know you better, but know your spirit has stuck with me, your courage inspires me and your life will be remembered forever. Rest in peace friend. - Posted by: Natalia willoughby (Friend) on: Nov 25, 2015

Darci You are a true angel, hero, and an amazing friend! You have touched so many lives including mine and I'm forever greatful, honoured and blessed to be friends with you. Your such a beautiful woman inside and out, who always put her best and strongest foot forward. You are one of the sweetest and most caring individuals I have ever met. You always made our school days go by fast and made them enjoyable! Your glowing smile always glowed upon us all in the halls! Your story had touched me since day one when you shared the news in computer class! I will never forget that day as it has impacted my life. Your truly an inspiration, and a hero. I remember all the good times we shared and still have many pictures of us from grade 12 grad! You looked absolutely stunning. As the years grew on us naturally we drifted but still kept in contact every now and then. I re read our fb messages today and it hurt so much but I do know your now at peace! I'm glad your no longer in pain and will miss you, your positive attitude and support! Your encouragement and support meant the world to me through my darkest days and I will forever be greatful! Thank you darling for leaving such a mark on me and do know you will always have a special place in my heart! You will be dearly missed but never forgotten. Love you Darci! Until we meet again Your friend Deanna Lang - Posted by: Deanna (Friends) on: Nov 24, 2015

Although I had only briefly met Darcy on a few instances, I have come to know so much more about her through the sharing of photos, and memories of her, by those that cared for and loved her so much. She was a beautiful, giving and courageous woman who endured more in more in her short life than many go through in a lifetime. Rest in Peace. My heartfelt condolences to Ashton, both of their families, and friends, who all loved and cared for Darcy. - Posted by: Deb (Maxwell) on: Nov 24, 2015
