DONALD WILLIAM WOODLANDS Don was born in 1937 at Lauder, Manitoba to Bill and Ruth Woodlands. He had a varied career in the peacetime Canadian Army. He played hockey as a goalie with the Detroit Red Wings (Backup to Terry Sawchuk). He enjoyed sports so much that he had two televisions on at the same time to watch two games. His wife, Rita Woodlands, was also quite an athlete as a catcher for the CUAC Team which won the Canadian championship. Don operated five restaurants, was a consultant to Carlson Restaurants and a consultant to Riverside Lions Senior Residents Building at 180 Worthington Ave; designing the commercial kitchen and developing food service for the tenants. Don is a past president of the Riverside Lions Club and an avid fan of the Montreal Canadiens and the Toronto Blue Jays. He was a longtime resident of Riverside Lions Estates, where he enjoyed the companionship of many tenants. Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, December 7, 2015 at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook Street.
