Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOSSIE HELEN HARRISON Dossie Helen Harrison on Thursday, November 19 2015, beloved wife of the late Arch W.P. Harrison passed away peacefully at the Victoria Hospital. She was born during the Winnipeg Strike on May 19, 1919 to Robert David Maclean and Annie Mary Maxwell. She was a lifelong resident of Winnipeg. Dossie attended Rupertsland School for Girls, followed by the University of Manitoba where she completed her Education Degree. She was a member of Westminster United Church and made lifelong friendships as a member of the Decadames and the Three O'Clock Book Club. Always wanting to challenge herself, she completed an oral history of Winnipeg Beach for the provincial archives with her dear friend Dora Carpenter. Dossie will be remembered for her strong sense of family and friendship. After her mother's death, she took care of her father as well as her own busy family. She was a true matriarch. She is survived by sons Tom (Janet), John (Monica) and daughters Dossie (Paul) and Jane (John). She also leaves 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren whom she adored. There will be a gathering in the summer for a celebration of her life at her beloved cottage at Winnipeg Beach. The family wishes to thank the caring people of Kenwood House in the Rosewood. In Dossie's memory, donations made to the Canadian Museum of Human Rights would be appreciated. THOMSON "IN THE PARK" 204-925-1120 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsoninthepark.com

To the family of Dossie (MacLean) Harrison, We are deeply sorry to hear that Dossie has passed away. Our records indicate she graduated from Riverbend School for Girls, as opposed to Rupert's Land, after completing Gr. 11 in 1936. A notice of her passing will be included in our alumnae magazine due out this summer. If you wish, I encourage you to visit our Online Archives to flip through yearbooks at www.balmoralhall.com/Page/Alumnae/Archives and in particular http://archive.org/stream/voxfluminisrb1936balm#page/18/mode/2up/search/dossie+maclean where you will find Dossie's graduation photo. Our condolences to you all. Genevieve Cloutier '03 BH Alumnae Office alumnae@balmoralhall.com 204-784-1616 - Posted by: Genevieve Cloutier (Balmoral Hall School Alumnae Office) on: Mar 01, 2016

I was so sorry to hear of Dossie's death. I didn't get to know Dossie until later in life, when I visited my daughter Nancy in Winnipeg. I live in Toronto, and whenever I came to Winnipeg we always arranged to have lunch with Dossie and I really enjoyed getting to know her. We had great conversations about the Toronto branch of the Maxwell family. She was a great lady and will be missed by so many. - Posted by: Betty Jarman (Maxwell) (Cousin) on: Dec 01, 2015

A relative like no other. Doss, taught by example, especially the great importance of & inability to measure the value of family & term friends. I consider myself to be so fortunate to have had such a wonderful role model in my life. Posted by Bette Purves. On Nov. 30,2015. - Posted by: Bette Purves (Cousin) on: Nov 30, 2015

My own mother-in-law was also a resident of Kenwood House. Whenever I was visiting, I was always so pleased when Dossie was up and about so that we could sit and chat about her interesting life. She was a very beautiful and dignified lady. - Posted by: Claudia Brownridge () on: Nov 29, 2015

Dad told me this morning of Doss's passing. She was a wonderful lady and I remember fondly visits to their house in the city but mostly the times when they were out to The Harrison Homestead. Such great memories. The family sends their condolences to you all. - Posted by: Pam Murray (Daughter of John and Madeliene Murray) on: Nov 28, 2015
