Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySYLVIA MARJORIE (GODDEN) HARRISON-SHEWARD January 12, 1935 - November 30, 2015 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Sylvia Harrison-Sheward. Sylvia was born in Winnipeg and resided here all her life. She was the oldest daughter of Leslie and Nancy Godden. Sylvia will be lovingly remembered by her four children Thomas (Florence), Lee (Pat), Susan (Richard Wozniak) and Jo-Anne Morris (Keith). The loves of her life, her grandchildren, Shannon, Lyndsay, Kayla, Michelle, Eric, Derek, Darcy, Daniel, Ian and Emily and her great-grandchildren, Avery, Olliver and Ava. Sylvia is also survived by her sister Rowena and many nieces and nephews. Sylvia was predeceased by her parents, her older brother James, her granddaughter, Jennifer and her sister Muriel. Sylvia married Al Harrison in December 1952 and they were married for over 30 years and had four children. She and her second husband, Joe Sheward, shared many summers at the lake, winters down south, and a memorable trip to England. She lived with her partner John McLelland until his death in 2005. Sylvia worked at the Provincial Court of Manitoba for 27 years. She was one of the first female Justices of the Peace, and later, a Magistrate. She retired in 1991 as Chief Clerk of the Manitoba Provincial Court. Mom loved retirement and took full advantage of it. She spent time traveling, spending winters in Texas and summers in Beaconia. One of the highlights of her travels was when she took her family to Disney World. On the way home from Disney World Mom said that the trip was the highlight of her life! Her grandchildren have many fond memories of the time spent with Grandma. When describing Grandma they can all agree that she was happy, loving and super funny! Although Mom's memories were lost, ours will remain. We will remember her positive outlook on life and happy demeanor, her love of all things bling, her sweet tooth, her frustrations with technology specifically her TV remote control, her love of naps and most of all her sense of humour, which was not lost with her memories. Sincere thanks to the 4th Floor staff at Beacon Hill Lodge. They took great care of Sylvia for the last couple of years. They are truly a special bunch of people and we appreciate all that they did for her. A service for Sylvia will be held on Thursday, December 10 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. In lieu of flowers donations to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba would be appreciated. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website. My heartfelt condolences to all of Sylvia's family at this sad time. I had the good fortune to work with Sylvia many years ago in the provincial court office. Sylvia was always such a warm, caring, kind person and treated everyone with respect and dignity. What a great role model she was to the young staff in the office. Sylvia was always a classy woman and will be fondly remembered. She will be missed. - Posted by: Brigitte Madder (Former co-worker) on: Dec 07, 2015

We were fortunate to share many Christmas Eves with Sylvia. She was always such a pleasant person. Our last time together was the Christmas Eve at Grandma T's house. We had a lovely conversation on our ride home together. You will be missed Sylvia by all who had the pleasure of knowing you. Our heartfelt condolences to all her family.
