Gailya is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Linda, and son, David (Diane); grandchildren Kelsey and Holly; her handpicked sister, Pat Griffiths; and her favourite niece and nephew, Sandi and Murray Scott. She is predeceased by her parents, George and Muriel, her brother Al, and sister-in-law Irene. Gailya was raised in Rivers, Manitoba and enjoyed returning there for the centennial celebration in the summer of 2013. She moved to Stonewall in 1978 and was active in the church community. Her greatest joy came from her faith in God. She valued her family and friends, including her cat, Smoke, all of whom gave her support and comfort. She loved all animals and had a life-long passion for music. Funeral service will be held on Friday, December 11, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at New Life Church, through MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall. Special thanks to the many nurses, doctors, and EMTs, who helped Gailya through her most difficult moments. Deep appreciation to Sandi and Murray Scott, who truly adopted her and treated her as their own mom. Thank you to her friend and neighbor, Doris Raflant, who rendered aid whenever it was needed and thanks also to Marianne Brittain for her friendship and help in so many ways. A heartfelt thank you to all her church family who showed her the love of Christ in too many ways, and far too many times, to count. May God richly bless you all. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Diabetes Research Foundation.

I am very good friends with Pat and unfortunately I never got a chance to meet Gai we were suppose to come and see her today and I was going to finally meet her. I have heard so many wonderful stories of Gai from Pat and family I really wish I got a chance to meet her I was looking forward to it. I am so saddened to hear that she passed away she is going to be missed so much from her best friend (sister) Pat and Pat's children and grandchildren. May she be at peace. Sending my love to all the family who are in my prayers. - Posted by: Pamela Martin (friend of family) on: Dec 10, 2015

Mrs.Brown was my Sunday School teacher when I was a young teenager. I remember her fondly as always being a 'friend' to all of her students. She treated us all with great respect and love, and was actively involved with our Youth Group at the time. Years later, I would often run into Mrs.Brown in Stonewall while shopping. She was always so happy to see me and always greeted me with a warm smile and a little chat. She truly was one of a kind. - Posted by: Alison Lecuyer (nee Ballantyne) (Sunday School student) on: Dec 08, 2015
