On January 13, 1923, Joseph was born in Star City, Saskatchewan. He spent his early years working in the bush camps. In January 1942, Joseph joined the R.C.A.F. and after several postings in Canada, was discharged in 1945. In the fall of 1942, he married his wife Louise. After his discharge they returned to Flin Flon and made their home there for 40 years where they raised their family. In 1981, Joseph took early retirement from (H.B.M. and S) and moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba where he took a job for several years at Supreme Racquet Court as a maintenance man. He was an active member of the St. James Knights of Columbus, doing volunteer work in the Parish of Saint John XXIII Roman Catholic Church, as well as the League for Life, an organization to which he was very committed. We have lived beside Joe and Louise for only a few years, but have come to care for them a great deal. Joe was fiercely independent and wanted to help Louise with the yard work. He always made us feel welcome when we dropped by, even for just a minute, with his smile and "Sit down!" We are sorry we didn't know of Joe's passing until after the funeral. Our thoughts are with Louise and family. - Posted by: Marilyn Allan and Casey Kucharsyn (neighbours) on: Dec 14, 2015

I worked with Joe and Louise when they were at Supreme Racquet Club. Joe was the best Maintenance Man you could ever ask for. There wasn't anything he couldn't fix! He was so hard working, very motivated and always there to talk or just listen if you were having a bad day. Joe had a smile and a kind word for everyone and everyone liked him. Although I hadn't seen Joe for a number of years, I thought of him often and hoped he was doing well. My heart goes out to Louise and the family. Joe always made the world a brighter place and he will be greatly missed. - Posted by: Karen Proctor (Friend) on: Dec 11, 2015

We've had the pleasure of knowing Joe for many years. He was a very good friend, thoughtful and kind, always ready to help in every capacity possible. His "How are you doing" was always so sincere and ready to listen to what you had to say. We hold many good and pleasant memories of Joe. May you rest in peace. - Posted by: Rose & Oleh Gulay (Friends of Joe & Louise) on: Dec 10, 2015
