JOHN WILLIAM (JACK) LYONS May 5, 1937 - Winnipeg, Manitoba December 6, 2015 - Calgary, Alberta On Sunday, December 6, 2015 Jack passed away from cancer at the age of 78 years. Jack will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 55 years, Lorraine; his son Mark and daughter Nancy Jakovac (Henry); four grandchildren, Vanessa and Dillon Jakovac, Scott and Emily Lyons; brother Dennis (Val) and sister Diane Sidoni (Don); and several nieces and nephews and their families. Jack worked for the River East School Division Maintenance Department for over 25 years before taking early retirement. He spent much of his childhood in La Riviere, MB. before moving to Winnipeg. In his younger days, he was a real cowboy, a life that he loved. He trained and took care of horses, often travelling out west to the Calgary Stampede. Road trips, golfing, curling and watching hockey were a few of his pleasures. Some of the best memories were the family camping and fishing trips. He was a very handy person who never avoided an opportunity to help someone out. He left a lasting impression on those who had the privilege to have met him. We will all miss his vitality and his efforts to put smiles on the faces of those in his presence. No formal funeral service at his request.
