PAUL SITTER
Born: Jan 31, 1918
Date of Passing: Dec 06, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPAUL SITTER After 97 years of extraordinary humility, Paul passed away peacefully at Deer Lodge Centre on December 6, 2015. Born on a pioneer homestead in Ladywood, Manitoba, on January 31, 1918, he moved with his family to Winnipeg soon after and grew up in the North End. Of his seven siblings, only a brother, Father Charles Sitter S.J., of Pickering, Ontario survives. As a young teen, Paul delivered prescriptions year-round by bicycle through all kinds of weather. In the 1930s, he rode the rails across Canada. From D-Day to V-E Day, he drove a motorcycle through Europe with the Second Canadian Armoured Brigade Signals. After the war he travelled around North America as a carnie with Royal American Shows. When he finally settled down back home in Winnipeg, he built a career in retail management with the Manitoba Liquor Control Commission. Defined by goodness, Paul was caring, generous and tolerant. He was a humble man who did decent things. The measure of his success in life was his stature as an honourable man, self-sacrificing dad, and kindhearted grandpa. Above all, he was a person of great warmth and humour, qualities that served him well in days of triumph and tragedy, which included the death of his son, Gerald in 1997. Left with the warm memories of his meaningful life are daughters Monica (Bernie), Theresa (Wayne), son Rich (Deb), daughter-in-law Lori, and grandchildren, Matt, Aaron, Aislinn (Brent), Ashton (Renee), Jacob, Ethan, Hayden, Avril and Jackson, and several nieces and nephews. Goodbye, kind soul. Thank you for everything you did for your family. A private family service has already been held. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website.
