DAVID REW Today we announce the passing of a lifelong companion, beloved patriarch, devoted man of faith and a true Scottish gentleman. David Rew passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at age 93. Born October 13, 1922, in Maryhill, Glasgow, David is survived by the light of his life and eternal partner, Mary Rew (nee Brown), his cherished wife of 68 years; his brother, Harry; his children, David (Joan), Will (Leona) and Allison; grandchildren Meera (Kevin), Alasdair (Shona), Ben, Chloe, Jessie, Nicholas, Marcy (Stuart), Dave (Kelly)and Jackie (Paul); great-grandchildren Nisha, Nathan, Anamika, Priyana, Brock, Brayden, Jhet, Lincoln, Ayden, Tanner and Sydney. David's story can only be told as he and Mary lived - as one. In his own words, David was captured by Mary's smile and wonderfully happy temperament, and so began a bond in 1941 that would never be broken. David served with Britain's Royal Air Force (radio communications) in Italy, Malta and North Africa during Second World War. Following his service, he graduated from Architecture from the Glasgow School of Art, practicing in Scotland, Malaysia and England prior to immigrating to Canada in 1967, settling in Montreal and then moving to Regina and finally Winnipeg. David, with Mary forever by his side, provided the grounding strength for a family rooted in tradition, love and respect - qualities that will live on through his eternal presence and in his honour. The family would like to express immeasurable gratitude to those at St. Boniface Hospital, The Shaftesbury and St. Margaret's Church for the care, compassion and support they showed David, Mary and the entire family. A funeral service will take place on Monday, December 14, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Margaret's Church, 160 Ethelbert Street. Sunrise, sunset, Swiftly fly the years, One season following another, Laden with happiness, And tears. Bardal Funeral Home 204-774-7474 Condolences: www.bardal.ca
