JENNIFER MAISSAN (nee JOHNSON) Jennifer Maissan passed away peacefully on December 8th, 2015, with her husband Arie and son Christopher by her side. Jennifer will be greatly missed by her husband Arie Maissan, son Christopher Maissan, daughter-in-law Sara Lazer and grandchildren Elliot, Simone and Lila; daughter-in-law Justine Andrus and granddaughter Evelyn; brother David Johnson, sister-in-law Jane Johnson and nieces and nephews Sam, Alice, Jack and Emily. Jennifer now joins her daughter Heather Maissan and son Alexander Maissan, who predeceased her. Jennifer was raised in Tuxford, England, by loving parents Alice and John Johnson. Seeking a new adventure, she travelled to the Niagara area where she met the love of her life and began a family. Jennifer and Arie settled in Winnipeg to raise their children. After retirement they returned to the Niagara area and moved to Fort Erie. Jennifer will be remembered for her kind, patient and accepting nature, as well as her sharp and often surprising wit. Jennifer had incredible strength and was always there to support her family and friends. Jennifer enjoyed spending time with children. She was a caring teacher and childcare worker and a loving mother and grandmother. She loved playing with her grandchildren and was always ready with a song, nursery rhyme or game. Jennifer was a person of faith. She was an active member of the Fort Garry Mennonite Brethren Church in Winnipeg and the United Brethren Church in Fort Erie. She enjoyed participating in house groups at both churches where she formed strong friendships. The family will receive visitors at the United Brethren Church, 1351 Garrison Road, Fort Erie, Ontario, on Wednesday, December 16th, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m. In honour of Jennifer, the family would appreciate donations to a cancer charity of choice.
