EINAR HALLUR JAMES HOWELL August 31, 1950 - December 3, 2015 With sad hearts we lost a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend on Thursday, December 3, 2015. Einar, aged 65 years, passed away after a short battle with liver cancer. Left to cherish his memory is his wife Joyce of 38 years. Daughter Jennifer, son James (Racquel), his pride and joy, his grandchildren, Wesley and Isabelle, brother George (Dorren), brothers-in-law Earl, Ken (Sherry), Robert (Shelly), Tom (Karren), sister-in-law Rachel Parker (Dave Bays), sisters Wilma Spulnick, Florence Swim (Don), Sarah Howell, all his camping family, his nephews, nieces and friends. Einar was born in Gimli, MB. He worked for YRC (Reimer) for 37 years until his retirement on August 31, 2015. From 1988 to 1994 he loved being a leader for Tyndall Park 63 Cubs. Einar loved fishing and camping. He would help anyone who needed it no matter if he knew them or not. Einar was very special to all of us. A piece of our heart goes with him until we meet again. We would like to thank the doctors and staff in Emergency, 5th floor Unit 1, 3rd floor Unit 4 and 5th floor Unit 5 at Seven Oaks Hospital for all their care and support. To all my family, camping family and friends, your support means more to us then words can express. A special thanks to Lee Bouchard. As per Einar's wishes, no service will be held. Eternal Grace Funeral Home are in charge of the cremation. In remembrance of Einar, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or to a charity of one's choice.

Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • I have been friends with Einar & Joyce since 1980, when we (my ex and I) moved into the block that Einar & Joyce were resident managers of. We became fast friends ever since. Einar and Joyce were always ready to lend a hand and Einar was there almost every time we moved........ And we moved alot!!!!! Einar was a great friend. Now that I have been remarried now for 15 years my new hubby and Einar became fast friends. He will be missed terribly. - Posted by: Evy Power (Long-time friend) on: Dec 28, 2015

  • Why does god take the good ones? We have to carry on and remember what Einar ment to people close to him. Always had time to help others and always had a solution to problems. Not always the right solution, but his heart was big enough to overlook it. He always "had the tool for that" or " lets use duct tape", when putting together a baby grand piano.(kidding) When my family moved closer to him and Joyce, he was right there helping set up or tear down. He always had coffee on and a fire going. But he couldn't sit for long. He was off doing something else for him or someone else. He literally" lit up our lives" for the past 3 seasons by stringing up lights about 400 feet around 3 campsites. I had the task and opportunity to take him fishing before his surprise retirement/bday party. And we had a great time just sitting and talking about anything. We even planned a birthday party for our ladies for next year, and him not knowing about his own party. He even planned while in the hospital before his passing. Always about others!!! I will always have a place for him in my mind and in my heart. I cry for him on occasion and laugh at other times. Einar, I love you like a brother and i will miss you forever! We will meet again someday! I promise! Love from Jarrod, Lisa and the girls. - Posted by: Jarrod Gesell and family (Fellow camper, friend and partner in crime) on: Dec 22, 2015

  • This past fall we were one of the last trailers to pull out down the road from you and Einar. He was there giving us a hand and giving advice on our torn awning - seeing us off for the season.
