MARY WINNIK Peacefully on December 5, 2015, our mom, our first friend, our best friend, our forever friend, Mary Winnik, passed away at the age of 98. She was predeceased in 1996 by her loving husband of 53 years Joseph. Mourning her loss are her daughters Nora-Dee James and Lesley Single (Howard) and her three grandchildren Erin (Jay), Greg and Jenn. Mary lived her adult life in St. Vital where she was active in the local community center and did volunteer work. Mary loved to oil paint, was an avid reader, gardener, and an exceptional cook. Mary was the center of our family. Mom always went out of her way to make the simplest event special. Ours was a home that everyone wanted to visit. For the past four years Mary lived on the 4th floor of the Poseidon Care Center. The family would like to thank everyone involved with Mary's care with special gratitude for the last 11 days of her life. At Mary's request there will be no formal services. To all the care givers out there always remember: "It takes a spark of awareness to light the candle of compassion"

Through a family member I received photo's and news of her. Sorry to have not been able to see more of her. May she rest in peace. My mother also would like to send her condolences. • Mary and Joe were special friends of my parents, Betty and Jim. I remember they were excited about the trips the four of them went on. Mary and Joe were often at our house and we at theirs. Until mom passed away in 2010 she still spoke of their friendship. Deepest sympathy to all the family. - Posted by: Wayne Buzahora (Friend) on: Dec 13, 2015
